Week 7’s Most Accurate Experts

Week 7 Accuracy ResultsAs far as degree of difficulty goes, week 7 was a tough one for both fantasy owners and experts alike. With injuries piling up and half a dozen teams on a bye, it wasn’t exactly the easiest week to make roster decisions and field a competitive team. If ever there was a time when folks needed some extra advice, this was probably it. Add in that playoff races are taking full shape in fantasy leagues, and most would agree this was certainly not the week to fall behind.

Fortunately, plenty of experts came through with excellent advice for fantasy owners, even though the options were more limited than previous weeks. We’ll recap below which 10 experts had the best weekly picks and provide an update on our Year-to-Date Accuracy Standings.

With his top-rated accuracy score in week 7, Michael Pichan (RotoInfo) is the first expert to have multiple #1 finishes this season (see also: week 3). Even more impressive, Pichan’s overall accuracy score for week 7 (68.8%) is the single highest rating we’ve tracked this season. With a score that strong, you can imagine that Pichan rated well across all of the positions we monitor. Leading the way were his picks at RB & TE, where Pichan delivered the best advice across the experts tracked. At RB, Pichan was 1 of only 6 experts to rate the week’s top stud, Chris Johnson, as a top 5 RB. That was a gutsy pick that paid huge dividends as CJ2K finally broke through (195 yds rushing yards & 2 TDs). Pichan also put a lot of faith in Fred Jackson by slotting him higher (RB #5) than all 97 experts monitored. That turned out to be another solid pick as Jackson gave fantasy owners a big day (120 total yds, 1 TD).

Perhaps most impressively, Pichan came through in a tremendous way at TE (85.4% accuracy rating). His biggest TE hit was ranking the week’s 2nd best TE – Dustin Keller – above every other expert, including 11 spots higher than the expert consensus. Pichan also had a good read on two of the week’s biggest duds that failed to net a fantasy point: Kyle Rudolph & Vernon Davis. His rating (TE #15) for Rudolph was the lowest of all experts while only a handful of pundits had Davis rated worse. All in all, it was a tremendous week of advice from the RotoInfo expert and it came at a great time for fantasy owners.

For the season standings, there wasn’t too much of a shakeup this week. Jody Smith (Gridiron Experts) continues to occupy the top spot but the gap is closing after the FFNerd produced its 3rd top 5 weekly performance. Only .12 percentage points separate the 2 sites so it’s safe to say the battle for the #1 overall spot could hardly get much closer. In terms of experts moving up this week, both Muntradamus (Beast Dome) & Justin Boone (TSN) cracked the top 10 due to strong weeks. Boone represents an interesting case since TSN is widely known for its NHL coverage, given that it’s Canada’s top sports outlet. If nothing else, Boone is giving Canadians (and all others) some excellent fantasy football advice to help fill the void during the NHL’s ongoing lockout. We’re sure TSN appreciates that.
