Best DraftKings Plays for Week 2

Vincent Jackson (WR) Tampa Bay Buccaneers

V-Jax “should continue to be targeted heavily and should be able to do more with his targets against the Rams” – Josh Moore

Week 2 of football is upon us and what better way to add on to the fun than possibly win some money in the DraftKings $1 Million Dollar Contest? Last week quite a few of our experts walked away with cash prizes as they flexed their DFS smarts.

Thanks to the popularity of the contest, the prize level that was $500K is now set at $1 Million. If you want a piece of that prize money and plan on participating, you may want to give this a read first. We’ve asked the top 5 experts from last week who they’ll be adding to their roster for this Sunday’s contest.

DraftKings Sunday $1M Contest

Q. Name one player you are most likely going to include in your DraftKings lineup for the upcoming week and why you like him.

VINCENT JACKSON (WR, TB)

Vincent Jackson had a down Week 1. He was targeted 9 times, but his production was limited, as was expected facing one of the toughest defenses against opposing WRs (Carolina). DraftKings’ pricing adjustments appear to have heavily weighted Week 1 performances. I’ll take Jackson this week at the bargain basement price of only $5000. He should continue to be targeted heavily and should be able to do more with his targets against the Rams. Vincent Jackson is typically a boom-or-bust type play, which plays well in a large field tournament like this one.

MIKE EVANS (WR, TB)

The St. Louis Rams visit Tampa Bay on Sunday and Vegas has projected the clash as one of the lowest scoring games in Week 2 with the home team total set at 21.5. The Rams were beat for 11 receptions, 109 yards receiving and 1 TD by wide receivers in Week 1. The Rams lost a critical member of its defensive line in Chris Long and this should allow the Bucs to exploit a defense that gave up the 7th most fantasy points to WRs last week. Most DFS players may utilitze Doug Martin as a cash game play this week. Of course, to take down a GPP, you need to have a few lower-owned players. Insert Mike Evans. If others roll out a Josh McCown and Vincent Jackson combo, the goal here is to zag and role out the number two wide out who should see a lot less double coverage or opposing safety help. Martin may run the game out in the 4th quarter, but the Bucs will take their shots deep early on. At just $4,000 on DraftKings, grab the big-bodied, rookie WR as a contrarian play (compared with Vincent Jackson). I see Evans with 9-10 targets and my model puts him at a 43% chance at a TD. The idea is to win a GPP and not finish in the money. Evans will be under-owned and you can use the savings (compared to Jackson) to spend on your core RBs.

ARIAN FOSTER (RB, HOU)

As we size up the Week 2 slate of games, Arian Foster’s heavy workload and tasty matchup at Oakland is looking like a steal for Daily Fantasy players. He’s priced in the second tier of running backs at just $7,000 on DraftKings, making the Texans lead back a smart buy for a player projected to touch the ball 25-30 times this week. Oakland was lit up for 174 rushing yards and a touchdown on 24 carries last week by the Jets running backs, who also tacked on another 23 yards and a touchdown in the receiving game. Make the investment in Foster this week, he’s a top-5 running back play with a 10% discount compared to other elite options.

Wayne Bretsky (BretskyBall)

PEYTON MANNING (QB, DEN)

My favorite play for Week 2 is Peyton Manning at home vs. a depleted Chiefs defense. The range in quarterback salaries is much lower than at other positions so I’ll take the premium option and save money elsewhere. Manning has the highest floor of any QB this week and the huge ceiling as well. I’m Willing to pay his price of $8800.

Peter Christensen (RotoGrinders)

JARRETT BOYKIN (WR, GB)

Since Jarrett Boykin was completely ignored and sacrificed on the road in Week 1 against Richard Sherman and the Seahawks, I am expecting a generous Aaron Rodgers to look his way in the Packers home opener. Green Bay is hosting the New York Jets, who were one of only three Week 1 defenses to give up multiple touchdowns to wide receivers. If Derek Carr can fly across North America and put up two touchdowns against the Jets at 10am Oakland time in his rookie debut, then Rodgers can easily roll out of bed and put up four. I think 5 catches and a TD is Boykin’s floor in what projects as a get right game for the Packer offense. Boykin’s affordability ($3,000) allows you to splurge elsewhere.
