The 2015 NFL Draft process hasn’t differed much from past years. There are still crazy draft rumors that look and sound more like lazy smokescreens, there are other rumors that are obviously just made up and there are endless controversial prospects that could be the epitome of hit or miss. The sad thing is it could start at the top, where experts are completely torn on would-be locks like Marcus Mariota or Randy Gregory.

There is no way in knowing how successful these guys will be with their pro teams, or which trades are actually going to happen. All we know for sure is that 32 NFL teams want to get better and the first round is going to be a part of that. Rather than go crazy trying to predict trades that may never even happen, let’s focus on the top prospects and try to find them a home:

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Jameis Winston, QB, Florida State

The Bucs need a franchise passer, so this pick is down to Winston or Mariota. Winston is by far the more advanced prospect and he’s ready to play right now. Tampa Bay will look past his questionable off field decision-making and make him the first pick in the draft.

2. Tennessee Titans – Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon

The Titans could pick Mariota if they’re not sold on Zach Mettenberger, or someone else will trade up to take him here. Whether it’s the Titans, Eagles, Chargers, Browns or someone swinging in like Tarzan out of nowhere, this is where Mariota gets drafted.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars – Dante Fowler, DE/OLB, Florida

The Jaguars improved greatly in their pass rush in 2014 but they still need to get younger and faster on the edge. Leonard Williams would be a fine pick here too, but they need that edge rush to be more explosive. Fowler will make that happen.

4. Oakland Raiders – Leonard Williams, DE, USC

Williams is talented enough to be the top pick, but everyone has Winston/Mariota fever so he’ll drop a little further than he probably should. Many have the Raiders making a splash with someone like Amari Cooper, but after signing Michael Crabtree, wide receiver may be a little less pressing. Williams is the type of talent that can anchor a defensive line and help a team turn around and compete.

5. Washington Redskins – Vic Beasley, DE/OLB, Clemson

Washington needs to make a decision on RG3 and they need to improve their defense. The first decision is made for them at least for 2015 with the top two passers off the board, so it’s on to defense. I like Randy Gregory the most, but Beasley has fewer question marks and is just as explosive off the edge. They need pass rush help and he’ll provide it.

6. New York Jets – Shane Ray, DE/OLB, Missouri

New York needs an answer under center and they need to add a few more pieces to their defense. With no quarterbacks worth taking here, they’ll settle for a stud pass rusher to slide into their aggressive 3-4. Ray might be a tad over hyped, but he’s a good athlete who can get after the quarterback. He’s a fine add at the six spot.

7. Chicago Bears – Danny Shelton, DT, Washington

Chicago is switching to a 3-4 base defense and doesn’t have the pieces for it just yet. Shelton is piece number one, as he can hold down the middle of the defense and help in both facets of the game right away.

8. Atlanta Falcons – Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia

Gurley might be a reach, but there’s been chatter about him going in the top-10. The Falcons are done with Steven Jackson and need a stud running back, plus he’s a hometown kid. They also need pass rush help but he could be tough to pass on.

9. New York Giants – Brandon Scherff, OT, Iowa

New York could easily opt for a top flight pass rusher here, but they also need help on their offensive line. Scherff is probably the best tackle prospect in this draft, so he’s a solid value pick at the nine spot.

10. St. Louis Rams – Kevin White, WR, West Virginia

White could go quite a bit earlier, as he’s built in the Julio Jones mold with elite size, speed and ball skills. He’s a legit #1 wide receiver at his next stop and the Rams lack one. They did bring back Kenny Britt and have Brian Quick to develop, but they’re also big into the “best player available” philosophy, so if he’s here I like them to take him.

11. Minnesota Vikings – Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama

With White off the board, Cooper won’t have to wait long. Wide receiver isn’t Minnesota’s biggest need, but Cordarrelle Patterson has been a bust and getting a legit, long-term #1 isn’t a bad idea.

12. Cleveland Browns – Randy Gregory, DE/OLB, Nebraska

I’m seeing Gregory do free falls out of the top-20 or even out of the first round altogether, and to me that’s just insane. Cleveland always makes questionable decisions anyway, and they do need help rushing the passer. Gregory is a high risk guy, but there’s also a ridiculous amount of reward. Cleveland doesn’t seem scurred.

13. New Orleans Saints – Bud Dupree, DE/OLB, Kentucky

The Saints are another team that badly needs to address their defense, specifically in the pass rush. Dupree should be a terror on the edge and there’s a solid chance he starts right away.

14. Miami Dolphins – La’el Collins, OG, LSU

Miami excelled in the ground game last year despite grading out horribly in the blocking department. They’re still cleaning up after the Richie Incognito debacle and they need better guard play. Collins is a stud guard who can move the pile, so he’ll fit in nicely.

15. San Francisco 49ers – Arik Armstead, DT, Oregon

The Niners are losing defensive bodies left and right and Justin Smith is on his way out of the league. They badly need help on the defensive line and Armstead will go a long way in stitching things back up.

16. Houston Texans – DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville

The Texans let Andre Johnson walk and now they need to find a long-term replacement. They have other pressing needs, but they seem to have done a solid job plugging holes. Parker is a luxury pick on the surface, but he’s a talent the Texans probably can’t pass up.

17. San Diego Chargers – Melvin Gordon, RB, Wisconsin

Ryan Mathews is gone and the Bolts are going into 2015 with Donald Brown, Danny Woodhead and Branden Oliver? Yeah, right. If Gordon is still here, this is where his stay in the green room ends.

18. Kansas City Chiefs – Trae Waynes, CB, Michigan State

Kansas City could think about snatching up a stud defensive lineman, but I think they’ll have a tough time skipping over Waynes. He is easily the top corner prospect in this draft and fills a need.

19. Cleveland Browns (From Buffalo) – Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Oklahoma

Breshad Perriman or Nelson Agholor are much safer, but do you trust the Browns to make safe picks anymore? For the second time in the first round, look for the Browns to both make the unexpected pick, but one that yields major upside. I love DGB’s talent and potential. They just better hope his mind is more right than Josh Gordon’s. And to those who say they’d never draft another troubled guy… come on. This is the Browns we’re talking about.

20. Philadelphia Eagles – Landon Collins, S, Alabama

Philly could trade up for Mariota, but if they don’t, I think they go defense. Safety stands out as a big weak spot for them and it just so happens the best safety in the draft falls into their lap.

21. Cincinnati Bengals – Malcom Brown, DT, Texas

Cincinnati has had real problems in the middle of their defensive line so it’s time they get an upgrade. Brown is a stud that could go a lot earlier and has the athleticism and quickness to play all over the line in any scheme.

22. Pittsburgh Steelers – Marcus Peters, CB, Washington

Ike Taylor retired (finally!) so the Steelers will want to bring in more talent to round out a secondary that hasn’t been great for quite a while now. Peters is one of the top corner prospects who has the size and ball skills you look for.

23. Detroit Lions – Jordan Phillips, DT, Oklahoma

The Lions lost both Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley, and Haloti Ngata might only be a one-year fix. Phillips is a stud presence in the middle that the Lions can’t pass by.

24. Arizona Cardinals – Eli Harold, DE/OLB, Virginia

It’s all about defense for the Cardinals, as they need major help in their pass rush and could also use some help on the defensive line and in the secondary. I think Harold is the last true impact defender that screams “draft me” on their board at this point, so they take the plunge in an effort to get more pressure on the quarterback.

25. Carolina Panthers – Andrus Peat, OT, Stanford

I see the Panthers beefing up their offensive line or getting another wide receiver for Cam Newton. They could always add a pass rusher too, but they still need to see what Kony Ealy turns into. Peat has fallen too far anyway, and he’s a stud tackle prospect the Panthers won’t be mad to have.

26. Baltimore Ravens – Breshad Perriman, WR, Central Florida

Torrey Smith is gone and Baltimore’s defense lacks a ton of holes, so the front office needs to build for the future in the passing game. Perriman is a rising prospect that may not last this long, but if he’s here Ozzie Newsome should pull the trigger.

27. Dallas Cowboys – Jalen Collins, CB, LSU

Dallas has a lot of holes, but corner is absolutely one of them. I think they go for a running back if the right one slides to them, but with the top two backs gone, they’ll settle on an impact defensive player. Collins is a potential stud corner that they’ll love to have.

28. Denver Broncos – Jake Fisher, OT, Oregon

Denver is pretty well stocked on both sides of the ball, but one big need is still shoring up that offensive line to make sure Peyton Manning’s body stays intact, while also helping the running game. Fisher is a fluid and athletic tackle that should fit well in Gary Kubiak’s zone-blocking scheme as either a right tackle or guard.

29. Indianapolis Colts – D.J. Humphries, OT, Florida

Protecting Andrew Luck is a must and even though his sack numbers (27) weren’t awful in 2014, he still gets rushed and hit far too much. Indy should be looking for a right tackle upgrade and/or a guy that can come in and play multiple spots.

30. Green Bay Packers – Eric Kendricks, ILB, UCLA

I’m not totally into Kendricks as a first round talent, but he’s a steady, balanced presence on the inside and the Packers cut their top two inside linebackers. He fills a major need and while he’s not the greatest athlete, he gets the job done between the ears.

31. New Orleans Saints (From Seattle) – Cameron Erving, C, Florida State

The Saints go defense with their first pick at 13 and luck out and still land a versatile, high impact offensive lineman to close their first round. They’ve done well to improve their o-line, but they could use one more guy to either take over the right guard spot or rotate all over. Erving can play every spot, so he’s a logical fit.

32. New England Patriots – Eddie Goldman, DT, Florida State

Vince Wilfork is gone and there’s no one left in New England that can be fully trusted yet to take over. Goldman could come in and compete to man the middle right away.
