FanDuel Lineup: Tuesday April 28

Michael Wacha will look to capitalize on a favorable matchup tonight

Michael Wacha will look to capitalize on a favorable matchup tonight

Tuesday night has plenty of opportunities for fantasy wins. There are 12 matchups in 7:05 contests (keep in mind CHW-BAL has been postponed). KC-CLE and TOR-BOS start at 6:05 and are not included in this lineup.

On the mound are a few aces, including Clayton Kershaw, Johnny Cueto, Madison Bumgarner and Sonny Gray. While on offense, look for a lot of runs in NYM-MIA, SEA-TEX and DET-MIN. If you’re looking for good stacking strategies tonight, the Tigers and Reds (see below) present good matchups.

Pitcher

Wacha faces the lowly Philadelphia Phillies tonight. The Phillies have scored the least amount of runs (53) in baseball, to go along with third-lowest team batting average (.220). Wacha comes into tonight’s matchup averaging 13.8 FPPG in three starts this year. While he doesn’t strike out a ton of guys (just 12 on the season), he has a 1.33 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP. With the Cardinals facing Phillies starter Severino Gonzalez, look for Wacha to earn his fourth victory of the year and put up a good fantasy score tonight.

Other Notables

Catcher

Vogt has not only been one of the hottest catchers in baseball, he’s been one of the best hitters in the game, period (.345/.426/.638). He has slugged four HR and 14 RBI, and has an OPS of 1.064. He has a favorable lefty-righty matchup tonight against LA Angels starter Jered Weaver. In Vogt’s last start against Weaver and the Angels, the 30-year-old catcher went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one R scored. He posted 4.5 FP that night. Weaver comes in struggling so far this season, with a 5.24 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP, and has only collected 12 SO in 22 IP. All signs point to Vogt putting up another good fantasy score tonight.

Other Notables

First Base

Tonight’s Brewers-Reds matchup is good one to stack in. Milwaukee’s starting pitcher Kyle Lohse comes into the game with a 7.94 ERA and has allowed at least one HR in each of his last four starts. Joey Votto has gotten off to a fast start this year, hitting .306/.425/.611 along with six HR and 15 RBI. He is a career .319/.431/.552 hitter against right-handed pitchers and faces Lohse at home in hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark. Look for Votto to continue his hot-hitting tonight and hopefully collect his seventh long ball of the season against Lohse and the Brewers.

Other Notables

Second Base

Forsythe has been one of the few bright spots in the Tampa Bay Rays’ struggling lineup so far this season. Forsythe is hitting .262/.366/.426 along with two HR and nine RBI. He and the Rays face Chase Whitley and the NY Yankees tonight. Whitley will be making his first start of the year for New York. In 10 games this season, Forsythe is batting .300 (3-for-10) against their AL East rival. While not a large sample size, against a pitcher making his season debut(career ERA of 5.23), Forsythe is a good value pick at 2B.

Other Notables

Third Base

Since being called up a few weeks ago, Kris Bryant has not disappointed Cubs fans. He is hitting .351/.478/.459, but has yet to hit a HR after bashing them all over the park in Spring Training. Hopefully the 23-year-old phenom can collect his first tonight against Jeff Locke and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Granted it’s a small sample to go by, but Bryant is a .421 hitter against the Pirates this season (8-for-19), and has collected eight of his nine RBI against them.

Other Notables

Shortstop

Continuing to stack against Kyle Lohse and the Brewers tonight, Zack Cozart presents excellent value at the SS position. Cozart scored 5.25 FP last night against the Brewers while hitting a triple and collecting an RBI. On the season Cozart is hitting .300/.333/.557 with four HR and 10 RBI. As noted with Votto, Lohse has been susceptible to the long ball. Hopefully Cozart can collect his fifth HR of the season tonight.

Other Notables

Outfield

Stanton has turned things around of late. He is batting .300 with four HR and eight RBI in his last 10 games, and has a favorable matchup tonight against Rafael Montero and the NY Mets. All five of his HR this season have come against righty pitching, and Montero enters the game with a 4.15 ERA. In 14 games (eight starts) Montero has given up eight HR.

Matt Holliday faces Severino Gonzalez and the Phillies tonight. The 22-year-old righty is making his major-league debut. In Double-A last year, Gonzalez posted a 4.59 ERA. Holliday is a lifetime .309/.379/.527 hitter against right-handers. He will add to those totals tonight against the Phillies.

In keeping with my stacking strategy, Jay Bruce fits in nicely to this lineup. He has a career .816 OPS against right-handers. Despite the low average (.175), Bruce has managed to put up power numbers (four HR; 12 RBI) this season. He will do the same tonight against Lohse and the Brewers.
