T.J. House has a much better matchup than his last outing to garner streaming consideration Sunday
Each week this column will scour the waiver wire and look for pitchers who are owned in less than 50% of Yahoo! leagues that could be useful streamers for your team. Please note the probable pitcher matchups could change throughout the week due to rainouts or other circumstances, so be sure to check back before picking up and starting one of these recommendations.
Sunday 4/19
T.J. House – Cleveland Indians (3% owned)
Matchup: @ MIN
House was a disaster in his first start of the season, but on the bright side it came against a dominant Detroit offense. House actually wasn’t bad last season as he went 5-3 with a 3.35 ERA and 3.69 FIP. He squares off against a much easier opponent on Sunday in the Twins. As of Friday, April 17, Minnesota is 26th in the league in runs scored and is batting .221 as a team.
Monday 4/20
Alfredo Simon – Detroit Tigers (24% owned)
Matcup: vs. NYY
Simon makes for a very attractive streamer for several reasons. He pitches for one of the best offenses in baseball, giving him a strong chance to pick up a win whenever he starts. He was brilliant in his last start, shutting out Pittsburgh in eight innings. He’ll face the Yankees in Detroit and should be able to limit their offense.
Tuesday 4/21
Dan Haren – Miami Marlins (11% owned)
Matchup: @ PHI
Haren is not the same pitcher he used to be, but he has had some success so far this season and gets a prime matchup against the Philadelphia Philles on Tuesday. The Philles are second to last in the league in runs scored and haven’t shown to be much of a threat to opposing pitchers. Haren doesn’t have much strikeout upside, but he has a good chance to pick up a win.
Wednesday 4/22
Archie Bradley – Arizona Diamonbacks (46% owned)
Matchup: vs. TEX
If you are interested in Bradley, you may want to pick him up soon as his ownership percentage is going up. Bradley has turned in two straight quality starts and is looking to be the real deal. He has a 1.42 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 12.2 innings pitched.
Thursday 4/23
Jesse Hahn – Oakland Athletics (43% owned)
Matchup: @ LAA
Hahn hasn’t had eye-popping numbers to begin the season, but he is a talented pitcher with good stuff and just needs to put it all together. He’ll take on the Angels at Angels Stadium, which has been a good place for pitchers over the years. He had 8.59 strikeouts per nine innings last season with San Diego, so he has some upside in that department.
Friday 4/24
Miguel Gonzalez – Baltimore Orioles (15% owned)
Matchup: vs. BOS
Gonzalez has been really solid over his first two starts this season. He’s pitched 12.2 innings and racked up 15 strikeouts along with 1.42 ERA. The ballpark matchup isn’t ideal, but the Brewers are tied for last in the league in runs scored and have struggled on offense this season.
Saturday 4/25
Kendall Graveman – Oakland Athletics (9% owned)
Matchup: vs. HOU
Graveman gets another start against the Houston Astros. He faced off against the Astros on April 14, shutting them out over five and one-third innings. He picked up three strikeouts and although he’s not a big strikeout pitcher, he has the potential to log a few more this time around. Houston’s batters are first in the league with 90 strikeouts this season.
