Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes has left a recent game with soreness in his left rib area. According to Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com, Reyes has been trying to play through the pain. Upon leaving the game, Reyes threw his helmet down in frustration as he was entering the clubhouse. He is certainly no stranger to injuries, but last season he seemed to redeem himself as he stayed relatively healthy while batting .287 with nine home runs, 51 RBI, and 30 stolen bases in 143 games played.
In 2015, Reyes was going strong in Toronto as he was batting .324 with five RBI through 10 games. Reyes is also battling age, as he is 31 years old. Dr. Selene Parekh tweeted out, that Jose Reyes could miss two-four weeks.

“It’s a rib problem. It’s just a small, little, tiny crack in the rib, fracture,” Gibbons said during a radio interview on Sportsnet 590 The FAN. “What we do have to be conscious of, too, is you don’t want this thing to turn into a long-term problem. If it’s best to nip it in the bud right now, maybe that’s the smart route to take.”
Look for a tag-team approach at shortstop with Ryan Goins and Steve Tolleson filling in while Reyes is sidelined. No official word yet if the Blue Jays are going to place Reyes on the disabled list, and will take a wait and see approach up until Tuesday. By then Reyes will either be placed on the DL or will be able to play.
