FanDuel Lineup: Saturday May 23

Buster Posey has been ripping the cover off of balls and is worth the cost playing at Coors

Buster Posey has been ripping the cover off of balls and is worth the cost playing at Coors on Saturday

It’s not the typical slate of games with only six scheduled for the Saturday night session. Less games means fewer scoring opportunities, so the margin for error is minimal. The major challenge assembling Saturday night’s lineup is choosing a starting pitcher, as the field is quite mediocre as a whole. The contest features a wild card game of sorts with game two of the Giants vs. Rockies double header included in the contest. The double header creates a challenge because the lineups will be unknown prior to the contest start time.

Michael Bolsinger (P, LAD) – $6,400
I narrowed my pitching prospects down to Jake Arrieta ($9,900) of Cubs and Michael Bolsinger of the Dodgers. Arrieta is clearly the safer play with a 9.5 K/9 ratio and proven 2.77 ERA, but listed $3500 cheaper, the potential of Michael Bolsinger is hard to ignore. Bolsinger has made three starts this season in which he has struck out 14 batters, given up only two earned runs, and picked up two wins. Vegas has the Dodgers listed as the heaviest favorite among all teams playing tonight. Expect Bolsinger to pick up win number three in his best performance to date.

Buster Posey (C, SF) – $4,500
Posey is hitting .400 over his last six games, he’s added 7 RBI, and he has previously homered off Colorado starter Jordan Lyles. The game is the back end of a double header, but it’s safe to assume Posey will be inserted into the lineup.

Albert Pujols (1B, LAA) – $2,800
Pujols remains the essence of a value play. The 1B position is traditionally very deep in terms of DFS production. Pujols is a threat to leave the building at any time as he demonstrated last night and will have the benefit of playing at Fenway Park in a game where runs will be abundant.

Dustin Pedroia (2B, BOS) – $3,000
In his career, Pedroia has feasted on C.J. Wilson offerings. In 24 at-bats Pedroia has amassed a .417 average, cracked four extra base hits, and knocked in 6 runs. With a 9 run total set by Vegas, expect Pedroia to continue his dominance of the Angel left-hander.

Mike Moustakas (3B, KAN) – $2,900
Moustakas is in the midst of an All-Star caliber season and he can be yours for cheap on Saturday. Moustakas is a great value play as he is 2-for-5 in his career against Cardinal starter John Lackey and holds a tremendous OBP of .387 this season. Expect another multi-hit performance from the Kansas City third baseman.

Jhonny Peralta (SS, STL) – $3,200
Peralta is turning in a very good 2015 campaign as he continues to outplay the back of his baseball card. He is hitting .295, has launched 6 bombs and scored nineteen times in 156 at-bats. Expect the resurgence of Jhonny Peralta to continue tonight. In his career against Kansas City Starter Edison Volquez, Peralta has two home runs and four RBI in only 13 at-bats.

Mike Trout (OF, LAA) – $5,300
Trout is turning in another MVP caliber season and should be inserted into every DFS lineup if the budget allows. Although he’s expensive, the decision to start Bolsinger over Arrietta provides the available salary to play up to Trout.

Adam Jones (OF, BAL) – $3,300
Jones is the quintessential DFS outfielder for tonight’s game. His cost is a bargain for the consistency, productivity and track record he provides. Jones is batting .357 against Miami starter Dan Haren, expect significant scoring from the Orioles’ star as he continues to rake.

Hunter Pence (OF, SF) – $3,300
With only 6 games under his belt, Pence appears to be in mid-season form. He has collected seven hits, scored six times and has knocked in 5 runs in only 24 at-bats. Pence will have a big night benefiting from Coors Field and pedestrian Colorado pitching.

Please remember to check the starting lineups and weather implications prior to your DFS lineups locking.
