With Thursday’s short slate, tonight may be the night to pay up for Mike Trout
With only six games on the schedule tonight, it’s hard to put a winning lineup together. Tonight is one of those night’s where you probably aren’t going to win with a dominant pitching performance. There are no aces or even number two’s scheduled to pitch.
Offensively, expect a lot of runs in Angles-Blue Jays and Rangers-Red Sox.

Pitcher
- Jesse Chavez – OAK – $7600
Chavez has gone at least six innings in each of his last three starts, and on the season is averaging almost a SO/IP (8.46 K/9). He and the A’s begin a weekend series against the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays have trouble scoring runs. They only have 162 on the season (11th in the AL) and have struck out 331 times (2nd in the AL). It’s a favorable matchup for Chavez.

Catcher
- Robinson Chirinos – TEX- $2500
Chirinos has been playing well as of late. He has a hit and an RBI in two consecutive games against the Red Sox and has two HR and seven RBI in his last 10 games.

First Base
- Freddie Freeman – ATL – $3300
Freeman has had a hit in four of his last five games and is batting .303 on the season. He has a favorable lefty-righty matchup against Matt Garza (5.72 ERA) and the Brewers tonight. Garza has given up eight HR this season. Four of Freeman’s five HR have come against RHP. He’ll look to make it five of six tonight.

Second Base
- Logan Forsythe – TB – $2600
Forsythe is currently on a five-game hitting streak and is batting .343 over his last 10 games. He is a .326 hitter against RHP this season and takes on Jesse Chavez and the A’s tonight.

Third Base
- Josh Donaldson – TOR – $3800
Donaldson has six HR and 20 RBI against RHP and is facing Matt Shoemaker tonight. He is batting .309/.374/.537 overall this season. Donaldson has scored 11 FDP in the first three games of this series against the Angels.

Shortstop
- Marcus Semien – OAK – $3400
Semien has been on fire lately. He is batting .357 over his 10 games, including three HR and three RBI. All six of his HR this year have come against RHP and he faces right hander Alexander Colome (6.05 ERA) of the Rays tonight.

Outfield
- Mike Trout – LAA – $5000

I would normally not overpay for Mike Trout, but with so few option tonight, he’s worth spending money on. He and the Angels face RHP R.A. Dickey (5.76 ERA) and the Blue Jays tonight. Dickey has already surrendered eight HR this season and nine of Trout’s 11 HR this year have come against RHP.
Ramirez has been a much better hitter (.340) against LHP than he has against RHP (.240) so far this year. Ramirez and the Red Sox face LHP Wandy Rodriguez and the Texas Rangers tonight.
Kole Calhoun has a five-game hitting streak going and has hit safely in nine of his last 10 games. Like Trout, his power comes against RHP (three HR and 12 RBI) this year. Overall Calhoun has hit four HR and 19 RBI.
