FanDuel Lineup: Wednesday May 27

Noah Syndergaard has a favorable matchup this afternoon at home against the Phillies

FanDuel is offering three different slates today, Early Only, All Day or Evening. This guide will cover the Early-Only slate. The construction will be before lineups come out, so be sure to check starting lineups before rosters lock. Fortunately there shouldn’t be any weather concerns. The Kansas City Royals at New York Yankees weather report shows a 40% chance of thunderstorms later on, but they should be about to get the game in.

The pitching options come in waves with a couple of aces, middle-tier guys, lower-priced youngsters with high upside and your everyday gas cans (don’t target those). When there is a plethora of pitching options to choose from it usually makes for an interesting percentage of players owned. Las Vegas has plenty of games with projected high run totals, so if you’re planning on stacking you should target those games.

Pitcher

Look for Thor to lay the hammer down vs. the Phillies at home. The Phillies currently own a .277 wOBA vs. right-handed pitching that is tied for 29th in the league. Syndergaard should be able to get you a K/9, and the Mets will put up plenty of runs for him to get the W.

Other Notables

Catcher

The options at catching are awful today. Especially on day games after night games due to the catcher getting a day of rest, but McCann sat out last night and will most likely be hitting fifth today. Chris Young has been pitching over his head this season and gets a downgrade in park shift. The short porch in right field is an advantage for McCann.

Other Notables

First Base

Ryan Vogelsong is one of the worst starting pitchers vs. left-handed hitters. Lind has been great this season vs. right-handed pitching. His numbers at home are eye-popping with a .449 wOBA, 184 wRC+ and a .333 ISO. His cost is near minimum salary, allowing you to pay up elsewhere.

Other Notables

Second Base

Kipnis is one of the hottest hitters right now and plays at a scarce position. His matchup is favorable vs. Colby Lewis. Usually you don’t have to pay up at 2B, but the matchup is too good. Vegas set the over/under at 8.5.

Other Notables

Third Base

Harrison’s slow start to the season has been long forgotten, which has landed him at the top of the Pirates’ order. He has 19 hits in his last 10 games and gets to face a soft-tossing lefty in Brad Hand. His favorable matchup gives him multi-hit upside along with the possibility of an HR and SB.

Other Notables

Shortstop

Anytime Marco Estrada is pitching you’re going to want to take a look at opposing hitters. The SS position is thin, and Ramirez will likely be hitting fifth in the lineup. The White Sox are hitting in a good ballpark in the Rogers Centre, and Estrada had the worst HR/9 last season.

Other Notables

Outfield

Brantley has one of the highest floors out of any player available making him a great play in cash games. His price tag is steep enough that people might not want to pay up for him which also makes him a solid play in tournaments. The Indians are projected to light up the scoreboard, and that usually happens with Brantley being a big part of it.

McCutchen is in a great spot today. He recently went on a tear, proving that his bad luck would eventually correct itself. McCutchen has 4 HR in his last 10 games. Pay up for the Bucco and reap the benefits.

Bruce looks much better at the plate lately after a horrid start to the season. He has 15 hits with 2 HR in his last 10 games and gets a nice matchup vs. Kyle Kendrick. Bruce loves hitting at home in Cincinnati’s hitter-friendly park. He is in a very good spot to hit an HR.

Other Notables

There are enough options at pitching and hitting for you to diversify your lineup today. If you pay up for pitching there is plenty of value available on offense. zor you can go the other way and pay down at pitching and grab your favorite bats for the day.

Make sure your guys are in the starting lineup as today is a getaway day for most teams and managers like to use that as a game of rest for some guys.
