There’s reason to believe that Trevor May has better days to come

Time may be running out to make moves, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to stop trying. Players have been called up recently such as Miguel Sano from the Twins and while he may already be owned in your league, there are others who have established their worth.

We asked the featured experts which pitchers and hitters are currently flying under-the-radar. Check out their answers below…

Get Start/Sit & Waiver Wire Advice

Q1. What pitcher should owners pick up that is owned in less than 25% of Yahoo Leagues?

Trevor May (SP – MIN)
Yahoo Ownership: 4%
“Trevor May is only owned in 4% of leagues? This is a mistake, people. His 4.37 ERA isn’t something that you see on the wire and jump at signing up for, but his 3.20 FIP is a much better indicator of his true talent. His 7.95 K/9 and 2 BB/9 are both slightly above average, and his fly-ball tendencies play well in Target Field. When that BABIP (.341) starts to regress, he’ll be someone that you’re glad is on your squad.”
Ryan Noonan (The Fantasy Fix)

Kendall Graveman (SP, RP – OAK)
Yahoo Ownership: 17% Owned
“Graveman has been outstanding since coming back into the starting rotation for the Oakland A’s. He’s even picked up his K% just a bit, but it’s the added bonus of having Relief Pitcher eligibility that makes him such a nice pickup. You can slot him anywhere with the way he’s throwing and feel safe about your ERA. He’s only given up 6 earned runs in his last five starts and his ERA has plummeted since his terrible April.”
Dennis Esser (Coach Esser)

Kyle Hendricks (SP – CHC)
Yahoo Ownership: 13%
“I wanted to suggest Trevor May here, but I’ll stick to slightly shallower leagues. Hendricks is a limited-upside, groundball pitcher with a high floor. He isn’t exactly the flashy flamethrower that fantasy managers chase after, but he knows how to pitch and will help in some categories while being a detriment in none. By K-BB%, one of the best indicators of future in-season success, Hendricks currently ranks in the 64th percentile of all qualifed starters. Everything points to a sub-4.00 ERA rest of season.”

Q2. What hitter should owners pick up that is owned in less than 25% of Yahoo Leagues?

Gerardo Parra (OF – MIL)
Yahoo Ownership: 11%
“There are a number of bats that seem under-owned and meet the >25% criteria here, but I’ll suggest Parra as an add. There’s nothing more valuable in the roto game than a well-balanced contributor, and Parra is exactly that. He’s hitting atop the Brewers lineup and while I can argue that they’ve certainly underachieved offensively as a team, there’s value to be had in Parra’s ability to chip in across the board.”
Ryan Noonan (The Fantasy Fix)

David Peralta (OF, ARI)
Yahoo Ownership: 5%
“The trade of Mark Trumbo and injury to Ender Inciarte opened up all kinds of playing time for Peralta. He’s always handled Right Handed pitching well, but is now hitting in front of Paul Goldschmidt on a regular basis. With that kind of protection and hitting in a hitter’s park, you have to be interested in Peralta especially if you’re suffering some injuries (Stanton, Springer). He’s raised his OPS from .751 to over .800 in his last ten games and faces Kyle Kendrick tonight! (Jake Lamb is someone to keep an eye on as well)”
Dennis Esser (Coach Esser)

Wilmer Flores (2B,SS – NYM)
Yahoo Ownership: 17%
“Flores has managed to provide value despite putting up a .233 average and 0 steals in 2015. His above-average contact ability coupled with a solid batted-ball profile means the average should start to rise closer to .250. Flores hits enough fly balls to be a power asset, he has multi-position eligibility, and the shortstop position is quite thin. Need I say more?”
