Buster Posey and the Giants provide a nice stack option tonight against Kyle Lohse

Buster Posey and the Giants provide an under-the-radar stack option tonight against Kyle Lohse

Tonight is a nine-game slate with no elite pitchers taking the mound. Expect ownership levels to be spread out in tournaments, as there aren’t any chalk plays. You can pretty much pay up for any offensive stack when pricing on pitching options is this low. Research the hitters wRC+ (Weighted Runs Created Plus) and wOBA (Weighted On-Base Average) when you’re looking for players or teams to stack.

Atlanta at Baltimore and Chicago at Boston pose chances of thunderstorms, but it is too far out to know for sure. Make sure to stay updated on the weather by following Kevin Roth on Twitter @KevinRothWx. He will have a full DFS forecast.

Pitcher

Lynn has been a workhorse for the Cardinals with a 2.68 FIP and a 26.1 K% that has led to 9.8 K/9. Lynn’s FIP is slightly better when he is pitching at home (2.50). The only reason Lynn isn’t considered a lock is because his opponent, the Cincinnati Reds, only strike out 18.6 K% of the time vs. right-handed pitching with an above average .313 wOBA. Digging a little deeper you will notice that the Reds aren’t the same offense on the road with their wOBA dipping to .295. The Reds just completed a series in Colorado where the ball doesn’t break as much and carries further when being hit. Lynn should be able to pitch deep into the game while striking out a decent amount of batters, putting him in line for the win. He comes in as a -200 favorite.

Other Notables

Catcher

Even if you’re paying up at pitching you shouldn’t have any problem squeezing in Posey tonight. Posey could go low owned tonight due to the ballpark factor and him facing a right-handed pitcher. Most owners like to pay up for Posey when he is facing a lefty. Posey has reverse-splits this season with outstanding numbers vs. right-handed pitching with a .389 wOBA, 156 wRC+, .178 ISO. Posey is by far the best option tonight. Paying up would be wise.

Other Notables

First Base

Belt is having an outstanding season this year vs. right-handed pitching. Belt doesn’t have extreme home/road splits and actually has a higher wRC+ at home. He owns right-handed pitchers this season with a .384 wOBA, 153 wRC+, .227 ISO. Belt won’t be a popular pick tonight, but he gets to face Kyle Lohse.

Other Notables

Second Base

Panik is a machine and should be considered an option on most nights. He hits at the top of the Giants order with incredible advanced stats. Panik is another Giant that thrives at home, and those numbers increase vs. right-handed pitching. Lohse is a pitcher you want to attack with opposing hitters, and the Giants are on a roll right now. $3,000 is a fair price for a second baseman coming into the matchup with a .367 wOBA, 141 wRC+, .145 ISO vs. right-handed pitchers.

Other Notables

Third Base

Bryant has been a completely different hitter when he gets to swing the stick at home in Wrigley Field. Bryant’s price hasn’t been this low in quite some time. With his HR/SB upside and left-handed matchup at home you have to consider using the young phenom. Bryant has a .374 wOBA, 138 wRC+, .262 ISO vs. left-handed pitching.

Other Notables

Shortstop

Do you love discounts? Value investments that continue to provide a solid ROI? If you answered yes to the first two questions then you must appreciate Bogaerts. He continues to have a low price with consistent production. Xander has 17 hits in his last 10 games. He is now sitting in the three hole in the Red Sox lineup and has certainly earned it. Bogaerts hits righties and lefties but excels above and beyond vs. left-handed pitching with a .398 wOBA, 155 wRC+, .128 ISO. The Red Sox go against John Danks who has pitched well in his last two starts, but you shouldn’t expect that to last much longer. Regression is coming for Danks and will likely happen tonight at Fenway Park.

Other Notables

Outfield

By now you should notice that picking on Lohse is highly advised. The ballpark factor in San Francisco shouldn’t scare you off stacking four Giants. Pence can rack up points in a hurry and hits in the middle of the Giants order. Pence should have multiple RBI opportunities tonight with the expectation of cashing those in. Although he hasn’t played the entire season, he has been crushing the ball when he is in the lineup. Righty-on-righty matchup may scare some DFS owners away from him but he owns a solid .370 wOBA, 144 wRC+, .196 ISO vs. right-handed pitching this season.

Jones is at home facing a lefty. That is all you need to know in order for you to want him on your roster tonight. Jones can crush lefties at any stadium, but when he is at home those numbers go through the roof. He has a .474 wOBA, 210 wRC+, .389 ISO at home vs. left-handed pitching this season. $3,000 is too cheap, making him a must-own player in 50/50s. He also makes for a good tournament play.

Fowler comes into play tonight vs. Jorge De La Rosa. Fowler has been on fire over his last 10 games. If he gets on base he becomes an immediate threat to steal, as he has four in his last 10 games. He is a switch-hitter but succeeds much more vs. left-handed pitchers. Fowler enters this matchup with a .360 wOBA, 128 wRC+, .079 ISO vs. left-handed pitching.

Other Notables

FanDuel is offering a variety of tournaments tonight with a range of low to high dollar entry fees. Two of the big tournaments tonight are the $4 Million World Fantasy Baseball Championship Qualifier #76 and the Fantasy Baseball Bracket Championship Qualifier. Browse through the lobby and reserve your entries before they fill. Always be sure to check lineups when they come out. You can find sneaky value plays when someone moves up in the lineup especially if they’re playing in a favorable ballpark or facing a below average pitcher.
