Our correspondent, Jen Ryan, has written about five Twitter accounts every fantasy player should follow

It has been a long summer, but we are getting so close I can almost taste it. The NFL season is just around the corner and by now you are well underway with your draft prep if you have not begun drafting already. The internet is abundant with resources for you to do all of your research. With the plethora of content out there, it is important for you to remember that thou must be on Twitter, where all news breaks first.

Twitter is many things and has many uses, but for the purpose of fantasy football, it is crucial to your success. Prior to being active on Twitter, I was just a casual fantasy football player. Since immersing myself on the platform and following all of the right people I have become a fantasy football champion. Over the next few weeks, I will be providing you with some of my “must follows” that have personally helped me win the fantasy Lombardi trophy. Below is my first round of five people you must be following on Twitter if you aren’t already.

1) Evan Silva – Senior Football Editor for Rotoworld

It feels impossible to recommend a fantasy football Twitter follow and not kick it off with Evan Silva. He is a brilliant football mind who is the senior editor of a brilliant football site. You could probably spend days going through all of his content on Rotoworld. His “Shy-Away Top 40” is a must read right now, and his FSWA award-winning “Weekly Matchups” column is a must read every week when you are making lineup decisions. His football knowledge is all encompassing and includes daily fantasy as well.

You may think Silva has a 24/7 gig going on, and it certainly appears that way. From writing to podcasting, you can find him all over the internet, and weekly as a co-host of “Fantasy Feast: ‘Eatin with Ross Tucker.” If you want to test your chops or just improve upon your drafting skills, you should head over to MyFantasyLeague.com and join an MFL10. Chances are good that Evan is in there drafting, and you could learn a thing or two if you land in a draft with him.

2) Sigmund Bloom – Co-owner, FootballGuys.com

Bloom is as obvious a follow as Evan Silva is. There is no excuse for anyone, from fantasy shark to casual player, not to be following Sigmund Bloom. His site is loaded with content both free and premium. With all the free content on the internet, it may not seem sensible to pay for fantasy advice. However, when you look past the fun of fantasy football to the financial gains available, it makes perfect sense for you to invest properly. If you are going to invest in a premium membership for a website, FootballGuys.com is a site you seriously need to consider. If quality articles are not your thing, his highly rated podcast, “The Audible,” is well worth the listen every time. Simply following Bloom will flood your timeline with more fantasy insight than you can imagine.

3) Matt Harmon – Fantasy Football Writer/Editor for NFL.com

Harmon is a recent hire at NFL.com, and his arrival has already made their content immensely better. Last year, he created his now well-known statistical gathering called “Reception Perception.” The amount of work, thought, film study and analysis that goes into Reception Perception is so complex, but the results paint a picture that is clear as day. Head over to his website for rankings but spend some time on there exploring. Follow him on Twitter for excellent takes, links to his work (NFL.com and Footballguys.com) and for advice. Matt is a genuinely nice guy, and if he is not too busy cranking out content, he will probably answer your questions. He also has a really cute dog that is a celebrity in its own right.

4) Renee Miller – Author, Analyst, Neuroscientist

I may run out of room here when I list all the places you can find Renee Miller. She’s on ESPN, Pro Football Focus, RotoWorld, Fantasy Insiders, The Fake Football, RotoWire and RotoViz. She is also an actual neuroscientist and used her knowledge to write a fascinating book called “Cognitive Bias in Fantasy Sports: Is Your Brain Sabotaging Your Team?” Her focus is on daily fantasy, but her cognitive approach translates across all platforms. She is a must follow, not just for her massive content and podcast appearances, but also because of her uniqueness. I cannot find another resource on the internet who so logically explains the effect that brain activity has on your lineup decisions.

5) Fantasy Goodfellas – Football Diehards, DraftKings

The Goodfellas are great follow if you like winning money in daily fantasy. This is really a bonus follow because for one Twitter follow you will have access to both Justin Lonero and Armando Marsal. “The Fantasy Goodfellas” podcast is a must listen for me every Thursday and should be for you as well if you enjoy smart content, winning money and thick accents. Hosted by footballdiehards.com and sponsored by DraftKings, the legitimacy of this podcast is evident by their respective cosigns. I should also mention the Goodfellas get some heavy hitters as guests, including my above follows Sigmund Bloom, Renee Miller and Matt Harmon. If you have a lineup or draft question, you should ask either one of them. Like true good fellas, they will answer your questions.

As of today, Twitter has 304 million active monthly users. Use this massive community as a resource for all of your fantasy needs. The five Twitter studs I mentioned are a great place to start. Be sure to check back for more essential Twitter follows in the coming days that will help you win your fantasy leagues.
