Wednesday night has an 11-game slate with plenty of pitching options, along with a game in Coors. Clayton Kershaw takes the mound in Los Angeles and is the safest pitching option with the most upside. Kershaw’s price is $13,300, making it difficult to target some of the bigger bats. This lineup will provide you with plenty of value while paying up for Kershaw tonight.
The run totals range from 6.0-11.0 with the Mets and Dodgers being a -240 favorite. The Orioles, Indians, Blue Jays, Mets, Twins, Astros, Royals, Pirates, and Brewers all have TT over 4.0. The Diamondbacks and Rockies both have a TT over 5.0. As usual, all of the hitters in the Coors game are an option, but this lineup won’t feature any of them.
Every game looks to have good weather for baseball tonight. Pay attention to games with high temperatures or winds blowing out. Make sure to stay updated on the weather by following Kevin Roth on Twitter @KevinRothWx. He will have a full DFS forecast.

Pitcher
- Clayton Kershaw – LAD – $13,300
Kershaw is the best pitcher on the planet and his team is eyeing a sweep vs. the San Francisco Giants. You can throw out the Giants low K% when it comes to facing a pitcher as elite as Kershaw. His 33.1 K% and 15.6 SwStr% are both career highs with an insane 2.22 SIERA.
Other Notables
- Matt Harvey – NYM – $11,500
- Max Scherzer – WAS – $10,800
- Cole Hamels – TEX – $10,700
- Michael Wacha – STL – $9,400
- Kevin Gausman – BAL – $6,700
- Taijuan Walker – SEA – $6,700
Catcher
- Yasmani Grandal – LAD – $2,200
Grandal hasn’t been the same at the plate since taking a foul ball off his shoulder and is currently in a slump going 1-for-31. His price has been driven all the way down to minimum salary but still provides HR upside for only $2,200. Grandal is having an excellent first year with his new team and comes into this matchup with a .365 wOBA, 135 wRC+, .218 ISO this season vs. right-handed pitching. Mike Leake is the opposing pitcher and has struggled vs. left-handed hitters allowing a .313 wOBA with a below average 16.2 K%.
Other Notables
- Welington Castillo – ARI – $3,900
- Nick Hundley – COL – $3,400
- Jonathan Lucroy – MIL – $3,400
- Francisco Cervelli – PIT – $2,600
- Yan Gomes – CLE – $2,400
- Salvador Perez – KC – $2,300
- Victor Martinez – DET – $2,300
First Base
- Prince Fielder – TEX – $2,800
Fielder lost his power stroke in the month of August but he didn’t waste any time finding it at the beginning of September. He is heating up at the plate and his price is way too cheap for his level of talent and proven track record. Fielder gets a downgrade in park factor but faces Ian Kennedy who has struggled with the long ball this season. Take advantage of his deflated cost as he comes into this game with a .385 wOBA, 143 wRC+, .149 ISO vs. right-handed pitching this season.
Other Notables
- Paul Goldschmidt – ARI – $5,500
- Edwin Encarnacion – TOR – $5,200
- Miguel Cabrera – DET – $5,000
- Chris Davis – BAL – $3,800
- Jose Abreu – CWS – $3,600
- Ben Paulsen – COL – $3,500
- Carlos Santana – CLE – $3,300
- Adrian Gonzalez – LAD – $3,100
Second Base
- Neil Walker – PIT – $2,600
The Pirates come into this game in a favorable matchup vs. Zach Davies. Their projected TT currently sits at 4.87 runs and they get a ballpark boost at Miller Park in Milwaukee. Walker is a switch-hitter who has much more success vs. right-handed pitching with a .340 wOBA, 119 wRC+, .185 ISO this season.
Other Notables
- Jason Kipnis – CLE – $3,600
- Brian Dozier – MIN – $3,200
- Chase Utley – LAD – $2,500
Third Base
- Trevor Plouffe – MIN – $2,500
Plouffe always makes for a great tournament play when the Twins are facing a left-handed pitcher. His ownership levels are always low with his teammate Miguel Sano stealing the show and getting all of the attention. Plouffe still hits in the heart of the lineup and comes into the game with a .333 wOBA, 111 wRC+, .203 ISO this season vs. left-handed pitching.
Other Notables
- Nolan Arenado – COL – $4,500
- Jake Lamb – ARI – $3,600
- Manny Machado – BAL – $3,600
- Nick Castellanos – DET – $3,200
- Lonnie Chisenhall – CLE – $2,900
- Justin Turner – LAD – $2,800
- Josh Harrison – PIT – $2,400
Shortstop
- Jean Segura – MIL – $2,400
Segura has been hitting very well lately and is leading off tonight vs. Jeff Locke. $2,400 is a fair price to pay for Segura when hitting leadoff in a favorable matchup. Segura is posting a .303 wOBA, 86 wRC+, .085 ISO this season vs. left-handed pitching but also provides SB upside.
Other Notables
- Jose Reyes – COL – $4,400
- Carlos Correa – HOU – $4,100
- Jung-ho Kang – PIT – $3,700
- Francisco Lindor – CLE – $3,400
- Nick Ahmed – ARI – $2,900
- Jimmy Rollins – LAD – $2,700
Outfield
- Lorenzo Cain – KC – $3,600
- Gregory Polanco – PIT – $3,400
- Joc Pederson – LAD – $2,200
Cain is having a phenomenal season and draws a juicy matchup vs. Randy Wolf. The Royals have a projected TT of 4.59 and are expected to do plenty of damage against Wolf. Cain has elite advanced stats vs. left-handed pitching this season with a .416 wOBA, 169 wRC+, .219 ISO.
Polanco has been tremendous hitting in the leadoff spot this season for the Pirates. Polanco is maturing at the plate while gaining confidence each and every at-bat. Miller Park plays well for left-handed hitters and Polanco comes into this game with a .327 wOBA, 110 wRC+, .135 ISO vs. right-handed pitching this season.
Pederson has risen from the dead! On Monday night he had a solid at-bat vs. the tough left-handed pitcher in Javier Lopez that resulted in a single. It was only a single but you could sense it was a huge at-bat for him. Joc had three at-bats vs. Madison Bumgarner yesterday and looked like a different man at the plate while hitting the ball hard every at-bat with his final swing being a home run over the center field wall. The rookie could very well be out of his funk and comes in at minimum salary vs. a pitcher who struggles vs. left-handed hitters. Joc is posting a .357 wOBA, 130 wRC+, .233 ISO vs. right-handed pitching this season.
