Quarterbacks

Blake Bortles JAX vs. HOU $7,300 (+$400)
Bortles continues to put up solid numbers, including a 29.22 FDP performance in Week 5 against the Buccaneers. Bortles threw for 303 yards and four touchdowns and his price jumped $400 this week as a result. I wouldn’t shy away from him in tournament play this week as he draws a plus matchup at home against the Texans.

Andy Dalton CIN @ BUF $7,600 (+$300)
Dalton torched the Seahawks last week to the tune of 331 yards and two touchdowns while running in another score. He’s thrown for multiple touchdowns in four out of five games this season and he continued this trend in a tough matchup. I don’t know if I will be on board this week at Buffalo, who pose a tough matchup on the road.

Andrew Luck IND vs. NE $8,600 (-$300)
It sounds like Luck is practicing in full, which means he likely will be ready for Sunday night’s showdown against the Patriots. If the Colts have any hope of staying in this game, it will be on Luck and the passing game. They were throttled at home last year against the Patriots, so they will no doubt be looking to avoid a repeat. I wouldn’t consider Luck a core play this week, but he does have tournament upside while not paying full price due to his shoulder injury.

Matt Ryan ATL @ NO $8,100 (-$200)
The matchup doesn’t get much better for Ryan and the Falcons this week as they face a weak Saints defense. This is a Thursday start game, but if you’re playing that slate it makes sense to take advantage of a price drop due to an off day in Week 5.

Philip Rivers SD @ GB $7,500 (no change)
Rivers put up 21.6 FDP Monday night against the Steelers and this is a classic case of taking advantage of salaries being released too early. Rivers put up 365 yards and that’s the third time he’s topped 350 yards in this young season. The matchup may not be the best on paper, but he’s definitely worth a look in GPPs due to his upside and stagnant salary this week.

Running Backs

Devonta Freeman ATL @ NO $8,000 (+$400)
Freeman continues to roll and as a result his price continues its rise. This is a tough situation as we still can’t evaluate a player’s floor as he will have a tough time maintaining this kind of production. On the flip side, he gets a great matchup against a depleted Saints defense, so if you’re playing the Thursday schedule, he’s still in play despite the increase.

Zach Zenner DET vs. CHI $5,400 (+$900)
Zenner saw a big price increase this week after a whopping 10 carries for 30 yards and one catch for seven yards. Yes, he scored all of 4.2 FDP in a blowout loss but still saw the biggest price increase of any running back. Zenner might see some more work going forward, but I like a certain someone in Detroit much more as you’ll notice below.

Alfred Morris WAS @ NYJ $5,800 (-$500)
Morris continues to lose touches to Matt Jones and his inability to contribute in the passing game further dents his value. Unless the trend reverses itself, it’s tough to justify using him despite the price drop. Toss in a tough matchup against the Jets and I’ll pass this week.

Eddie Lacy GB vs. SD $7,300 (-$300)
Lacy sticks here yet again as his salary dropped $300 after another lackluster performance. The Chargers present a far easier matchup for Lacy and I think the Packers will make an effort to get him rolling. His price is approaching levels where you may need to consider him for cash games, but that’s a tough proposition until we see something change.

Theo Riddick DET vs. CHI $5,000 (no change)
How in the what?! I am so stunned by this I can’t articulate my feelings properly. Riddick is averaging 9.8 FDP/game and Zach Zenner is averaging 1.3 FDP/game. While neither are particularly compelling, I could see the logic in using Riddick as a filler due to his pass-catching abilities. Toss in the fact that Detroit always seems to be playing from behind and there’s actually some appeal here. Just as a reminder, Riddick is 12th in the league in receptions and first among running backs.

Wide Receivers

Ty Montgomery GB vs. SD $5,800 (+$1,100)
Montgomery had the biggest price jump at any position this week and that is directly attributed to his career day. Montgomery is making the most of his chances with Davante Adams on the shelf and despite the big price increase I still think there’s merit in utilizing him in GPPs. The Packers throw the ball a ton and anytime your quarterback is Aaron Rodgers, the upside is there.

Willie Snead NO vs. ATL $6,200 (+$900)
Snead has registered strong outings in two straight games and that has led to a hefty jump in price. With the masses chasing I’m more likely to fade this week, especially with the Falcons passing defense not as bad as expected.

Eddie Royal CHI @ DET $5,300 (-$200)
Royal is a viable source of salary relief if he returns this week, and he even comes at a slight discount. The matchup against Detroit is a plus, so don’t be afraid to utilize the savings if he plays.

Leonard Hankerson ATL vs. NO $5,800 (-$200)
Hankerson came back to reality some last week, but he could be thrust into a bigger role on a short week. Julio Jones is dealing with a hamstring injury and the Falcons could be inclined to rest him against the Saints. Either way, I like Hankerson to bounce back, especially if Jones is on the sidelines.

De’Anthony Thomas KC @ MIN $4,500 (no change)
Zach Zenner saw a $900 price increase on 4.2 FDP, and De’Anthony Thomas’ price didn’t change after scoring a touchdown. With the Jamaal Charles injury, Thomas could see some more touches going forward. Due to his home run threat, he’s definitely worth a look as a tournament play at minimum price.

Tight Ends

Derek Carrier WAS @ NYJ $4,900 (+400)
Carrier scored a touchdown last week in relief of Jordan Reed and he will likely see another start if Reed is out again. With a price increase and a terrible matchup on deck against the Jets, I’ll look elsewhere.

Travis Kelce KC @ MIN $6,200 (-$300)
The Chiefs offense is uncertain right now due to the Jamaal Charles injury, but this is a good spot to take advantage of a slight decrease in price. Minnesota presents a slightly favorable matchup, but I’d pick my spots carefully until we see how this unfolds.

Richard Rodgers GB vs. SD $5,100 (no change)
Rodgers hasn’t had high yardage totals, but he appears to be gaining an increased role in this offense. He had six catches last week for 45 yards and didn’t see a price change. With a good matchup coming up against San Diego, I have no issues targeting Rodgers this week.
