DeAndre Hopkins will be tough to fade Week 12 despite his price increase

Here’s a look at the notable FanDuel salary changes between Weeks 11 and 12 of the NFL season.

Quarterbacks

Aaron Rodgers GB vs. CHI $9,200 (+$300)
Rodgers’ salary ticked up heading into a Week 12 tilt with the Bears, but I’m not sure what he did in Week 11 to warrant such a move. He did just enough to get the win, but his numbers were not that great as he struggled with accuracy yet again. That being said, I do like the matchup at home against an average Chicago pass defense who Rodgers threw three touchdowns against in Week 1.

Matthew Stafford DET vs. PHI $7,200 (+$200)
Stafford failed to throw a touchdown for only the second time this season, but his price still went up heading into Week 12. He did throw for 282 yards while rushing for a touchdown, so I don’t have a problem with the salary increase. I absolutely love Stafford this week in tournament play as he draws the Eagles’ defense, who were torched for five touchdowns by Jameis Winston in Week 11.

Philip Rivers SD @ JAX $8,000 (-$300)
Rivers has now struggled in two straight contests as injuries are starting to take a toll on the San Diego passing game. With two consecutive down games, his ownership could be a bit lower this week, but don’t let the last two games dissuade you. He faces the Jaguars in Week 12, who rank 29th in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks and he’s a high-upside GPP play this week.

Derek Carr OAK @ TEN $7,400 (-$300)
Carr was a total letdown in Week 11 after being an extremely popular play. The best thing you can do in DFS is to have a short memory and move on to the next week. Carr entered Week 11 having thrown multiple touchdown passes in seven of his last eight games, and as a result, I feel confident that he returns to form this week. Tennessee ranks 20th in fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks, and I look for the Raiders’ passing game to get rolling again.

Russell Wilson SEA vs. PIT $7,600 (no change)
Wilson registered his highest fantasy output of the season in Week 11 yet his salary remained stagnant heading into a home game against the Steelers. Pittsburgh ranks in the middle of the pack against opposing quarterbacks, and I have no issues rolling out Wilson in tournaments this week.

Running Backs

Javorius Allen BAL @ CLE $6,300 (+$1,400)
With Lorenzo Taliaferro and Justin Forsett out for the season, Allen is primed for a huge increase in touches. While touchdowns may be hard to come by in an offense which has been decimated by injuries, the touches should be there. Toss in a favorable matchup coupled with the expected volume and Allen makes for a fine tournament play in Week 12.

Darren McFadden DAL vs. CAR $8,100 (+$1,300)
I’m not exactly sure why McFadden’s price jumped this much. He did post 149 total yards in a good matchup against the Dolphins, but he failed to find the end zone. He has a tough matchup against the Panthers this week and that makes it tough to justify using him in Week 12 after this big of an increase in salary.

Christopher Ivory NYJ vs. MIA $7,000 (-$200)
Ivory struggled in Week 11, but that was due to game flow more than anything. After struggling with his production, Ivory has posted at least 4.5 yards per carry in his last two games. The Dolphins were gashed by Darren McFadden in Week 11 and they have allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to running backs this season. Ivory is a solid play in Week 12.

Chris Johnson ARI @ SF $6,800 (no change)
While the Cardinals’ backfield is crowded, Johnson continues to see a steady workload. He carried the ball 18 times in Week 11 and he is dominating the work on first and second down. The 49ers were run over by Thomas Rawls in Week 11 and they allow the third-most fantasy points per game to running backs. Johnson had 22 carries for 110 yards and two scores in a game against San Francisco earlier this season, and I think he’s a great tournament play this week.

Wide Receivers

DeAndre Hopkins HOU vs. NO $9,400 (+$500)
Hopkins lined up against Darrelle Revis for most of the game in Week 11, but the cornerback was no match for Houston’s star receiver. He registered five catches on 12 targets for 118 yards and two touchdowns and that performance finally pushed his salary above $9,000. Despite the salary increase, I don’t know how you can fade Hopkins heading into a prime matchup in Week 12 against the Saints. New Orleans has allowed 28 passing touchdowns this season and Hopkins could be in line for another monster game.

Vincent Jackson TB @ IND $6,400 (+$500)
Vontae Davis lines up on the right side of the field nearly 80% of the time, which just so happens to be the side that Mike Evans spends nearly half of his offensive snaps. This will likely leave Jackson lined up against either Darius Butler or Greg Toler, which is good news for the Buccaneers. Butler is the 92nd ranked cornerback by Pro Football Focus and Toler isn’t far behind, ranking 89th. Jackson wasted no time getting back to work in Week 11, posting a solid line after sitting for nearly a month. He could be in line for another big week, making Jackson a great tournament play.

Amari Cooper OAK @ TEN $6,800 ($-400)
Cooper was locked down by Darius Slay in Week 11 and the entire Oakland offense struggled despite a favorable overall matchup. Cooper figures to see Perrish Cox a lot in coverage this week, who ranks 63rd according to Pro Football Focus. With Cooper’s price slipping below $7,000, this triggers an opportunity to buy in Week 12.

Allen Hurns JAX vs. SD $7,200 (-$300)
Jason Verrett and Patrick Robinson are both tough in pass coverage, but Hurns spends an equal amount of time in various formations for the Jaguars. This means he should see Brandon Flowers for about a third of the snaps on offense, which is a huge plus for Hurns. Flowers has been horrific in pass coverage this season and he ranks 110th among all cornerbacks according to Pro Football Focus. Look for the Jaguars to try and exploit this in Week 12. Hurns is a phenomenal GPP play.

Tight Ends

Delanie Walker TEN vs. OAK $6,100 (+$400)
Walker has been Marcus Mariota’s security blanket this season and Week 11 was no different. He led the team in targets yet again with 10 and he caught eight of those for 109 yards. He has a favorable matchup in Week 12 against the Raiders, and he’s still a fine play despite the increase in salary.

Jimmy Graham SEA vs. PIT $5,500 (-$300)
Graham barely had more yards than the Seahawks did points, and his salary dropped again heading into Week 12. Despite the tough season, he’s priced in a range that I feel he’s worthy of tournament consideration. The Steelers rank 28th in terms of fantasy points allowed per game to tight ends, yet his ownership levels will likely be low this week.
