Matthew Stafford will try to exploit a struggling Eagles’ secondary
Welcome to a special edition of our FanDuel lineup recommendations. We will be focusing on the Thanksgiving Day slate, which includes three games. Since it is a small slate, I recommend playing lightly and using a smaller percentage of your bankroll than you would normally use on a full Sunday slate. It’s a perfect opportunity to create a small contest with just a few of your friends and family members. Before we dive into my recommendations, I just want to wish everyone safe travels. Quarterback
Matthew Stafford (DET) – vs. PHI – $7200
Stafford has not been great by any means this season. However, the Eagles’ defense has been lit up through the air over the last few weeks. Over the last three weeks, the Eagles have given up a total of 10 passing touchdowns to Matt Cassel, Ryan Tannehill, and Jameis Winston.
Running Back
DeMarco Murray (PHI) – at DET – $7700
DeMarco Murray looked great in the first half last week, rushing for 51 yards. However, the Eagles had to abandon the run in the second half since they were down by 14 at halftime. With Ryan Mathews ruled out again, look for Murray to have a bounce back game against the Lions.
Jonathan Stewart (CAR) – at DAL – $7100
Stewart is one of the last remaining bell-cow running backs in the NFL. In each of the last six games, Stewart has had at least 20 carries and 66 yards. This week he has a great matchup against the Cowboys, who have struggled against the run this season.
Wide Receiver
Calvin Johnson (DET) – vs. PHI – $8200
After a slow start to the 2015 season, Calvin Johnson has had at least five receptions and 81 yards in each of the last five games. This week he has a superb matchup against the Eagles, who allow the third-most FanDuel points to wide receivers this season.
Randall Cobb (GB) – vs. CHI – $7400
Cobb has been pretty quiet the last couple of weeks. With that being said, look for him to rebound in a decent matchup against the Bears. In the last three games against the Bears, Cobb has 16 receptions, 223 yards and four touchdowns.
James Jones (GB) – vs. CHI – $5800
Usually, it’s not ideal to have two wide receivers from the same team in your DFS lineup. However, since it is an abbreviated slate and since the Packers are projected to score the most points on Thanksgiving, you can feel comfortable playing two wide receivers from Green Bay. In Week 1, Jones had four receptions, 51 yards and two touchdowns against the Bears.
Tight End
Greg Olsen (DET) – at DAL – $6400
Olsen is one of the best receiving tight ends in the league, and he is by far the safest play at the tight end position on this abbreviated slate.
Kicker
Mason Crosby (GB) – vs. CHI $4700
Crosby is one of the best kickers in the league, and the Packers are in a great situation to put up a ton of points.
Defense/Special Teams
Carolina Panthers – at DAL – $4700
The Panthers’ defense is by far the best defense on this Thanksgiving Day slate. They have been one of the top defenses in the league this year and have scored at least nine FanDuel points in each of the past five games.
