Tonight, we have a small five-game slate to be creative with.

Point Guard

Deron Williams (UTA@DAL) $5,600
Williams is just as risky as playing a Derrick Rose or even Anthony Davis for being injury prone. You never know if you will get the good or the bad. Be cautious with playing him.

With the exception of the Atlanta Hawks game when he went out with a hip contusion and remained out for the next game against the Miami Heat, Williams has three games of 30 or more fantasy points in the last eight games. Against a tough Memphis Grizzlies team, Williams produced 22 points to go with 11 rebounds to score 42.9 fantasy points.

The last time the Jazz and Mavericks squared off, Williams produced 23 points, six rebounds and eight assists. The veteran still has plenty left in the tank, and I am playing him with confidence, tonight.

Jose Calderon (WAS@NY) $4,400
Unless you are playing the top PGs in tonight’s slate, Stephen Curry, John Wall or even Isaiah Thomas, you can’t expect much from the value PGs. I decided to go a different route than rostering Stephen Curry because I do not see him scoring more than 50 fantasy points tonight. Vegas predicts the Rockets versus Warriors game to be a very high-scoring game, but I am thinking it could be a blowout game with Curry falling short of value.

When digging deep for the value in the PG position, I found Calderon, who has produced 29 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists in the past two games. Just like Deron Williams, Calderon played well against the Memphis Grizzlies as he scored 33.1 fantasy points two games ago. In this uptempo game, I am expecting Calderon to boom or bust, and by that I mean he will either continue his solid play producing across the board, or he will be a non-factor as Wall could give him a tough matchup.

Shooting Guard

Dwayne Wade (SA@MIA) $7,600
So far, Wade has impressed me this season as he looks younger than he has over the past few years. Despite aging and playing through injuries, Wade continues to be the leader and primary scorer for the Miami Heat. In the last nine games, Dwayne Wade has scored at least 5x his value in six games.

As most people like to stay away from San Antonio games, I am hoping Wade will be less owned as I foresee him scoring 20 or more points to help lead the Heat to a victory over the Spurs. Wade is one of those players who is not too expensive, so you can play him with confidence to hit value but his matchup tonight brings his value down. However, his ceiling to score 40 or more fantasy points intrigues me enough to look past the matchup as matchups do not dictate all performances.

Klay Thompson (HOU@GS) $6,900
Thompson always worries me when I roster him, but he usually produces well when I do. Against James Harden, he should score at least 5x his value with ease tonight, since Harden only knows how to score. As I said before, I do not see Stephen Curry hitting value in tonight’s game because he is so expensive, but since Thompson is just as deadly of a shooter as Curry, he should see nothing but net to raise his production.

The last time the Rockets and Warriors played, Curry sat out with a leg injury and Thompson scored 38 points to go along with seven rebounds. Let’s look for Thompson to step up again and put his money where is mouth is since he stated that he is the best shooting guard in the NBA.

Small Forward

Carmelo Anthony (WAS@NY) $8,900
It would be great if the injury bug would leave Anthony alone so he can get into a solid rhythm. In the past 10 games, Anthony has played in six games of 30 or more minutes, producing four double-double games in a row. Just like Wade, Anthony is the type of player who hasn’t been the most consistent, so his price is fairly cheap to his ceiling and caught my eye today.

The last time the Wizards played the Knicks, Anthony scored 37 points, seven rebounds and four assists. The matchup speaks for itself as the Wizards rank as the worst team at defending the SF position.

Gordon Hayward (UTA@DAL) $7,900
After seeing Hayward put up 50.9 fantasy points to my hometown Chicago Bulls, I like this kid a lot more. I didn’t think his defensive skills were up to par, but he proved me wrong as he played well against Jimmy Butler and even outplayed him on the offensive side as well.

In the past 10 games, Hayward has three sub-par games with two 50 or more fantasy point games to make up for the sub-par games. Other than the three games that he was held under 20 points in, he hovers around the 35-40 fantasy point score, so it’s reasonable to expect about 30 fantasy points from Hayward, tonight.

Power Forward

Chris Bosh (SA@MIA) $7,200
Bosh is another veteran who has a high ceiling, but he is a bit inconsistent. In the past 10 games, Bosh has only scored above 30 fantasy points in five games. This should be a slow-pace game, which I think will be helpful to Bosh so that the Heat can run plays for Bosh in the post.

His rebounding and fantasy production has taken a dip, but he has been shooting more three-pointers, so hopefully he will continue to produce three-pointers more or get back into the paint to bring down some more rebounds. This is a tough matchup against the Spurs, so let’s see him work his way into the paint for some rebounds and putbacks for some easy fantasy points as the Spurs rank as the fifth-worst team at defending opposing PFs in the last five games.

Pivot to Jared Sullinger: The last time the Celtics played the Bucks, Sullinger scored 11 points to go with 10 rebounds. He also has back-to-back 30 or more fantasy point games in the last two games.

LaMarcus Aldridge (SA@MIA) $7,300
If this were last year, I would be yelling to play Aldridge since he posted 34 points to go with 12 rebounds against the Heat. But, that was last year and this season is a bit different. In the last six games, Aldridge has come around and is looking like his old self as he scored 42.5, 17.4, 41.8, 50.7, 36 and 38.8 fantasy points.

Despite his 17.4 fantasy point game, he has been a focal point of the offense as he has four games of 25 or more points. Since it appears that I am playing high ceilings today to maximize value, Aldridge is a solid play.

Center

Andrew Bogut (HOU@GS) $4,200
With Festus Ezeli out, Bogut is primed for an uptick in minutes as they will need his big body in the post to help defend Dwight Howard. Bogut missed the first meeting between the Rockets and the Warriors but produced nine points to go along with 11 rebounds. The Rockets are one of the worst teams at rebounding, so I see Bogut coming down with double-digit rebounds with ease.

Hopefully, he will manage to get some easy putbacks for some simple points to raise his production. With Bogut being limited on offense and being priced at $4,200, you can’t expect much more than 20-25 fantasy points; however, he has produced two games of 30 or more fantasy points in the last 10 games.

I went with more of a balanced lineup, instead digging for the cheap value players.
