WHEN WILL CAM NEWTON BE TAKEN IN 2016 FANTASY DRAFTS?

Despite his recent shortcomings, Newton is far and away the most valuable fantasy football quarterback on the market in 2016. His Super Bowl blunders could never hurt his fantasy value. Newton is simply too talented.

Newton thrived this season with receivers like Ted Ginn, Corey Brown and Jerricho Cotchery. Not one of these receivers should be a No. 1 option on any NFL team. However, Newton found a way to make it work.

Ginn deserves some credit for making some pretty unbelievable plays and scoring 10 touchdowns this season. His production won’t remain that high next season because the Carolina Panthers are going to look for better options.

Newton’s fantasy value can only increase with the return of Kelvin Benjamin and a very talented 2016 free agent class. Improving the offensive line is a must for this team. The Super Bowl was a clear indication that Newton’s line let him down.

Polishing up the offensive line and adding a wide receiver or two would dramatically increase Newton’s fantasy value. Some good fits would be Alshon Jeffery, Rueben Randle and Marvin Jones. Each of whom would add some much-needed depth to the Panthers’ wide receiver corps.

Most pre-draft and free agency fantasy football rankings have Newton ranked as the No. 1 fantasy quarterback. Trailing behind him are Aaron Rodgers, Andrew Luck and Tom Brady.

As far as fantasy drafts go, Newton will most likely be drafted in all leagues before the third round. It is highly unlikely that Newton falls anywhere below that, especially in 10-12 team leagues. Newton could be the fantasy reach of the year, with him being drafted earlier than he should in all formats.
