Yahoo NBA Lineup Advice: Friday February 5

If you have money to spend and need a reliable player, look no further than Kawhi tonight

Are you ready for Sunday? Working up an appetite for those wings, pizza and nachos? What about those prop bets?

Well, before you get into Super Bowl mode, do not forget there are some great NBA games tonight! With 10 games on tonight’s slate, there are a plethora of guys to choose from and many combinations you could make.

Before we get into tonight’s matchups, let us look at how we did last Friday.

I made some great decisions with my top three guys, but then again who would not pick James Harden or Kevin Durant. Partnering them with Dwayne Wade was a good idea and the three combined for 156.10 points.

The problem is that I did not hit on many of my value guys. Aaron Gordon and Spencer Hawes returned great value while my other suggestions did not. I cashed in one small GPP tournament and actually took 10th with this lineup in a 50/50 contest.

Remember, DFS is not exactly a science. You will have more luck winning smaller amounts of cash than hitting a huge payday. Take your time and be smart with your decisions.

Okay, enough with the small talk. Onto the big game!

After tinkering my way through about fifteen lineups like Ruxin from “The League,” I came up with a cash game option I like for tonight. I would not use this lineup in a GPP tournament, but I will make notes of guys you could consider if you want to go that route.

PG – Kyrie Irving $30

Irving has looked good over the last few weeks and it seems his knee injury is long behind him. He is averaging over 35 fantasy points on Yahoo in his last four games. He has a tough matchup against Boston who does not give up many fantasy points to point guards this season. I do not see the matchup being an issue for Irving though. The Boston-Cleveland game is projected by oddsmakers to be the third highest scoring game tonight and Irving should have his fair share of points. For GPP purposes, I would look at Ish Smith and John Wall tonight.

SG – Jamal Crawford $14

I am very shocked that Crawford’s price tag has not gone up closer to $18. He is seeing over 25 minutes per game and is averaging just under 30 fantasy points over his last four games. Crawford is facing off against a Magic team that has struggled against the SG position lately. I like Crawford to outscore his teammate J.J. Redick tonight, and with his salary, Crawford should hit at least four times his value.

G – Derrick Rose $23

Rose has been playing great basketball lately. He has been attacking the basket and playing well with and without Jimmy Butler. Butler is questionable for tonight’s game, along with Pau Gasol. If either of these guys sit, Rose’s value skyrockets! Either way, you should expect a minimum of 25 fantasy points.

SF – Kawhi Leonard $43

Leonard is my chalk option. He has been so consistent and is an almost guaranteed 30 fantasy points. He also has the potential to put up over 40. Dallas is not the easiest matchup for the small forward position, but Leonard should have little problem scoring. He might be one of the safer plays of the night and I am using him in most of my cash lineups. LeBron James is my go to guy for GPP tonight. I like him more than DeMarcus Cousins actually.

PF – Kevin Love $35

Love has really hit his stride lately. Even on nights when Kyrie Irving and LeBron James are putting up good fantasy points, Love is hitting his value too. He is always a threat to double-double every night, and tonight is a night I think he gets it done. He has hit over 35 fantasy points in seven of his last nine games. He also has a great floor and thus why I am using him in most of my cash game lineups.

F – Thaddeus Young $30

This was one of my last positions to fill for tonight. I also made a lineup where I spent up more at the center position, but I liked this lineup more. The Brooklyn-Sacramento game is projecting to be a high scoring game and Young has a good matchup. Sacramento is one of the worst teams at defending the PF position and I like Young to hit value here. Young already has 22 double-doubles on the year, and I think he hits his 23rd tonight.

C – Nikola Jokic $13

This is a complete value play, but I like his value even for my cash lineup. Jokic has a favorable matchup against Chicago, a team that has trouble defending guys who can score down low. Jokic has hit more than 30 fantasy points in seven of his last nine games. During that span, his lowest output was 18 and his highest was 50. Jokic has a great chance to hit five times his value tonight and is a great option in GPP tournaments too!

UTIL – Garrett Temple $12

This was the last position I filled in this lineup. Temple is cheap for a guy who is seeing over 32 minutes in his last five games. With that many minutes each night, Temple has the peripherals to hit over 20 fantasy points. If he starts heating up and scores double-digits, then Temple could see upwards of 25 fantasy points in tonight’s projected highest scoring game. He is a slight risk for cash games, but he should not hurt this lineup. I like Temple and Wayne Ellington as two low-cost options in GPP tournaments.

I hope everyone enjoys their Super Bowl weekend and good luck with tonight’s lineups!
