Matt Holliday and the Cardinals could do some damage Monday night in a favorable matchup
Welcome to the Monday edition of FanDuel MLB value plays. There are 10 games being played tonight. As of right now it does not appear that there are any major weather concerns for the games. Be sure to check the team lineups as they come out before locking any of these players in. Let’s go ahead and take a look at my value plays for tonight.
Pitcher
Bartolo Colon (NYM): $7,700 vs. ATL
Colon probably doesn’t have the upside to help you take down a GPP. However, he is a safe enough play if for some reason you would like to drop down and use him in your cash games. The Braves currently own the worst record in all of baseball and have been awful against right-handed pitchers with a .275 wOBA and a 65 wRC+.

- Adam Wainwright (STL): $7,800 vs. STL
- Nathan Karns (SEA): $8,200 at OAK
Catcher
Jonathan Lucroy (MIL): $3,000 at LAA
Some may argue that this is more of a mid-range play than a value play. However, there are not many appetizing options under $3,000 today. Lucroy had a solid first month of the season and he will look to keep things going tonight against Jered Weaver, who currently owns a 5.51 FIP in 2016.

- Stephen Vogt (OAK): $3,000 vs. SEA
First Base
Brandon Moss (STL): $2,700 vs. PHI
Moss has hit right-handed pitchers well during his career with a .339 wOBA and a.223 ISO. Tonight he has a great matchup against Jeremy Hellickson, who has allowed a .328 wOBA and 1.19 HR/9 to left-handed hitters since 2013.

- Ryan Howard (PHI): $2,300 at STL
Second Base
Cesar Hernandez (PHI): $2,300 at STL
Second base is a position where I definitely will be looking to use either a mid-priced player or pay up for one the top dollar options in my cash lineup. With that being said, if you do decide to punt the position, I recommend Hernandez. Hernandez usually hits at the top of the order and currently has a .340 wOBA against right-handed pitchers this season. Also, Adam Wainwright has struggled big time this season with a 5.22 FIP and a 3.58 BB/9.
Third Base
David Wright (NYM): $2,900 vs. ATL
Third base is another position that does not offer a ton of value options. However, if you do want to save at the position, consider using Wright. He doesn’t have the platoon advantage against Mike Foltynewicz. However, Foltynewicz has been awful against both right-handed and left-handed hitters in his major league career.
Shortstop
Asdrubal Cabrera (NYM): $2,900 vs. ATL
I mentioned above how we can pick on Foltynewicz, and Cabrera is another value Mets player who we can use to attack the RHP. So far this season, Cabrera has a .349 wOBA against right-handed pitchers.
Other Notables
- Jonathan Villar (MIL): $2,700 vs. LAA
Outfielders
Randal Grichuk (STL): $2,800 vs. PHI
Jeremy Hellickson has pitched well so far this season, but I don’t think it will last much longer. In the last three seasons, Hellickson has allowed a .343 wOBA and 1.36 HR/9 to right-handed batters. Grichuk and the Cardinals should be able to knock around Hellickson tonight since they are the league’s best hitting team against right-handed hitters this season.
Matt Holliday (STL): $3,100 vs. PHI
Holliday is another Cardinals’ outfielder who you could use to pick on Hellickson. Holliday currently has a .407 wOBA and a.306 ISO against right-handed pitchers this season.
Kole Calhoun (LAA): $3,000 at MIL
Calhoun didn’t do too well in April. However, a matchup against Jimmy Nelson may change Calhoun’s fortune. Nelson has allowed a .357 wOBA and 1.48 HR/9 to left-handed hitters since 2013.
