Mark Trumbo will be hard to fade on Wednesday’s evening slate
Here’s lineup advice for FantasyDraft MLB contests on Wednesday, May 4. This is a tournament lineup for the evening slate of seven games.

Pitcher
Drew Smyly (TB): $21,300 vs. LAD
I’m not supremely confident in Smyly as my lineup’s ace tonight, but there aren’t many solid SPs to choose from. Smyly is a solid favorite to pick up the win tonight in a game with one of the evening slate’s lowest over/unders. He also provides strikeout upside with over 10 K/9 so far this season. Smyly will regress at some point, but I don’t think it will be tonight.
Mike Leake (STL): $14,700 vs. PHI
Leake is the best of the bunch when it comes to the value options in terms of environment and Vegas expectations. He also takes the mound as a strong favorite to win in a game with a lower projected total. Like Smyly, Leake is due for regression, but his should be more positive than what he’s shown to date.
Infield
Josh Donaldson (TOR): $9,600 vs. TEX
Colby Lewis is a fly ball pitcher that has allowed a lot of contact and home runs over his career. The Blue Jays have been running bad offensively. Tonight, at home against Lewis, is as good a night as any for a few of the better bats to get going. Donaldson is the first in my Toronto stack.
Jose Altuve (HOU): $9,200 vs. MIN
Phil Hughes is a reverse-splits pitcher. While many players may be rostering the lefties in this lineup, I’ll pay up for Altuve who could have a big night across the board.
Derek Dietrich (MIA): $6,300 vs. ARI
Rubby De La Rosa will continue to be picked on despite his stretch of two solid starts. He’s a fly ball pitcher that’s struggled mightily against left-handed hitters. I’ve got two such batters in my lineup tonight, with Dietrich being the first.
Outfield
Jose Bautista (TOR): $8,700 vs. TEX
Read the note on Donaldson. Prices for TOR hitters are down, allowing me to include these guys in a great matchup along with other offensive studs.
Mark Trumbo (BAL): $8,400 vs. NYY
Trumbo will be well owned tonight considering Tuesday’s two-home run effort and the fact that he’s taking on a hittable LHP in C.C. Sabathia in a park built for right-handed power. I’ll be following the herd for all the reasons listed above.
Michael Saunders (TOR): $7,200 vs. TEX
Saunders gets the platoon advantage against Lewis, who’s especially struggled against left-handed hitters. I’m hopeful that Saunders and the rest of the Jays’ bats are alive tonight in Toronto.
Utility
Adam Jones (BAL): $7,800 vs. NYY
Jones hasn’t been great this season, which is why his price is depressed. Still, he has a great matchup where he sees the platoon advantage. He also has great career numbers against Sabathia with four HRs and an OPS over .900 in 61 at-bats.
Justin Bour (MIA): $6,300 vs. ARI
Bour is dealing with a finger injury, but he pinch-hit Tuesday and is hopeful to play Wednesday. He provides big upside as he displayed in his recent two-home run effort. He also has the platoon advantage against Rubby De La Rosa. He’s a great value at this price for tournament play considering his boom/bust nature.
