Tigers pick up the option on Alex Avila, likely to let him walk after 2015

It looks like the Tigers will be leaning on Avila for one more season. Despite rumors that the Tigers were looking to deal the catcher, they have opted to pick up his contract, which will likely be his last with the organization. With Bryan Holaday backing Avila up and heralded prospect James McCann waiting in the wings, Detroit will likely have a new starting catcher come 2016. Avila holds no fantasy value except for in the deepest of leagues.
