Royals sign Alex Rios to 1 year deal

The Kansas City Royals have signed outfielder Alex Rios to a 1 year deal worth $11 million according to MLB.com (MLB.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Rios will be 34-years-old during the 2015 season and has really seen his power numbers decrease over the last couple years. Last year was his worst year power wise since his rookie season in 2004; Rios only hit 4 HR and finished with a Slugging Percentage of .398. Only 2.9% of the fly balls hit by Rios left the ballpark, which is well below his career average of 8.8%. The move to Kauffman Stadium won't help him as far as home runs are concerned either, as the Royals ranked 22nd in park effect for home runs. For 2015, A fair projection is a .270 average with 10 HR and 60 RBI with 15 to 20 SB; he looks more like a top-35 OF. Rios' value will come from stolen bases, but expecting him to rebound to a 20HR/20SB season is unreasonable.
