The Miami Marlins have officially come to terms with 1B/OF Michael Morse on a two-year, $16 million contract. Morse figures to bat behind Giancarlo Stanton while manning first base everyday for the Fish. Just like Mat Latos, Morse is a South Florida native, having played for Nova High School before being drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 2000. (Yahoo! Sports)

Fantasy Impact:

Morse hit .279/.336/.475 with 16 home runs for the World Champion San Francisco Giants in 2014. When healthy, Morse has proven to be more than a long-ball threat. However, he has played in 100 or more games only three times in his ten year career—146 being his career high in 2010 with the Washington Nationals. Morse could prove to be a sneaky selection in the later-middle rounds for draftees that roll the dice on his health. He’ll be in one of the best situations in baseball when at the plate this season batting behind NL MVP candidate Giancarlo Stanton. RBI opportunities will be there if Morse can stay healthy.
