Dan Haren "holding out hope" for trade to Angels or Padres

by Jonathan Ebanks | Tue, Dec 23rd 3:07pm EST

Miami Marlins' SP Dan Haren wants to be traded to either the Los Angeles Angels or the San Diego Padres because he doesn't want to have to be away from his family. It's unknown whether either team is interested in Haren. (NBC Sports)

Fantasy Impact:

When Haren was traded, he said that he would rather retire than play away from his loved ones. He's years away from being a top-of-the-rotation starter and wouldn't be much of an upgrade for LAA or SD's rotations. If Haren decided to retire, the Dodgers would pay his $10 million salary to the Marlins. It's possible that the Marlins may force his hand into retirement to get the cash, since the Angels or Padres likely won't give up anyone of much value for him.
