Phillies sign Wandy Rodriguez to minor league deal

The Philadelphia Phillies reportedly signed Rodriguez to a minor league deal, pending a physical. Rodriguez was hampered due to injuries the past two seasons with the Pirates. He made just six starts in 2014 and appeared in only 12 games in 2013. (MLB.com)
Fantasy Impact:
Although Rodriguez was just 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA this past season, he posted solid seasons from 2008 through 2013. He had 10 ore more wins in each season from 2009 through 2012, while averaging 169 strikeouts and an ERA well under 4. With the Phillies lacking in depth in the rotation, Rodriguez could make a push for a spot in the rotation. Should Rodriguez make the Phillies roster, he could be a solid extra starter in deep fantasy leagues.
