Cubs and Dexter Fowler agree to one-year deal

by Dale Redman | Fri, Jan 23rd 7:08pm EST

The Chicago Cubs and newly acquired outfielder Dexter Fowler have avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year $9.5 million deal. Fowler will be the Cubs leadoff man and starting center fielder on opening day. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Fowler was ninth in the American League with a .375 on-base percentage with the Astros in 2014. The Cubs on the other hand struggled at the top of the lineup as multiple players combined to hit .253 with a .303 OBP in 2014. Fowler should have plenty of opportunities to score runs with Starlin Castro, Anthony Rizzo and Jorge Soler following him in the projected lineup.
