Phillies sign Chad Billingsley to one-year contract

by Kerry Kauffman | Thu, Jan 29th 7:53pm EST

The Phillies added much needed depth to their pitching staff by adding right-handed pitcher Chad Billingsley to a one-year contract worth $1.5 million. Billingsley has pitched only two games in the past two seasons due to an elbow injury, which lead to Tommy John surgery. (CSNPhilly.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Billingsley, barring that he's completely healthy, will round out the Phillies pitching staff which includes Cole Hamels, Cliff Lee, Aaron Harang and Jerome Williams. It is uncertain what to expect out of Billingsley, but he is a proven pitcher with a career record of 81-61 and a 3.65 ERA. Watch Billingsley's progress this spring and if he makes the rotation, he could be a decent third or fourth option in deeper fantasy leagues.
