Stephen Drew

Stephen Drew participated in his first outing of the spring

Stephen Drew is in a battle for the starting second baseman job, but started with a listless 0-2 on Wednesday afternoon.

Fantasy Impact:

Drew was woeful in 2014, only posting a .536 OPS between the Yankees and Red Sox, but many are optimistic that his poor season was a result of a late start to the season. Contract disputes led to his season not starting until June 2nd and Drew never really got going. There is hope for the veteran, as he had an OPS of .777 in 2013 and twice has had an OPS over .800 in a season. He will battle Jose Pirela and Rob Refsnyder for the starting job at second and is the presumed starter, if for no other reason that his stellar defensive play. He did have an error in the game as well, so Drew needs to show better form to solidify the Yankees at second. He is not worth a roster spot as is, but could be worth while as a streaming option.
