Pedro Alvarez crushed a 3-run home run on Tuesday in Florida against the Toronto Blue Jays. It gave the Pirates an early 3-0 lead in the 1st inning. (Pittsburgh Tribune Review)

Pedro Alvarez had a fantastic game on Tuesday hitting a 3-run bomb to the opposite field, and he played outstanding defense. Alvarez is making the shift from 3rd to 1st and it seems to be going well so far. This game was a little indicator showing that Alvarez still has the amazing power that he showed in 2013. Alvarez has been playing great defense over at 1st base, although he still has things to learn that can only come through game experience. He is proving already that his intent is to be at the top of the NL in offensive production this season.
