On a rainy day in Clearwater, Phillies Ace Cole Hamels cruised through two innings, allowing 1 hit while striking out 2 in a split squad exhibition game with the New York Yankees.
Fantasy Impact:
No surprises for Hamels or fantasy owners as Cole managed to do pretty much what everyone should have expected. One interesting development though is the fact that there were numerous scouts in attendance. This should signify that while talks may have cooled for the Phillies lefty, interest has not. As the Spring progresses and injuries begin to pile up, the possibility of Hamels being moved will increase as well as the chances of his fantasy value taking a swing for better or worse.
