Brett Gardner has hit second when paired with Jacoby Ellsbury this spring, finishing Friday night's appearance 1-3 with a strikeout
Fantasy Impact:
In 33 plate appearances in 2014, Gardner only had a .605 OPS, compared to a .796 OPS as a leadoff hitter. Joe Girardi will try each player as a leadoff hitter this spring to make sure that he puts the right man at the top of the lineup. For his career, Gardner has only a .707 OPS as the second batter in the lineup.
