Yunel Escobar out 7-10 days with strained oblique

by Rose Ingberman | Sat, Mar 7th 1:55pm EST

Yunel Escobar, who is preparing for a position change from shortstop to second base, has been shut down with a Grade 1 oblique strain. According to Nationals manager Matt Williams, Escobar "hasn’t had any problem when throwing or fielding grounders." The issue arises when he tries to swing, a common cause of oblique strains. Williams anticipates he'll be fine at second base with a couple of weeks to prepare when he returns to action. (Nats Insider)

Fantasy Impact:

If Escobar is not ready by opening day, look for Danny Espinosa to get starts. The Nationals also have former Atlanta Brave Dan Uggla in camp competing for a bench job.
