Chase Utley goes 1-for-2 in spring debut

by Kerry Kauffman | Fri, Mar 13th 4:50pm EDT

Chase Utley made his first appearance in Grapefruit League play after being sidelined with a sprained ankle. Utley was the designated hitter and hit third against the Tampa Bay Rays. Utley went 1-for-2 with a strikeout. The Phillies went on to defeat the Rays 2-1.

Fantasy Impact:

Utley has been battling a chronic knee condition, which he appears to have under control. He will likely be brought along slowly the remainder of the spring but will be ready for Opening Day. Utley wont play 155 games this season and is not the hitter has was in his prime. He's still one of the better offensive second baseman in the league at age 36.
