Nick Markakis takes important step, eyes opening day

Markakis took on-field batting practice for the first time today since his neck surgery in December. Manager Fredi Gonzalez said that Markakis is in good health and ready to play, he is just awaiting clearance to do so. Both he and Markakis think there is enough time to get in the necessary reps to prepare for the regular season. (David O'Brien)
Fantasy Impact:
Pencil Markakis in as the starter on opening day. It's likely he will need some time to refine his timing and he might serve well as a late round flier.
