Eduardo Rodriguez being shut down for rest of season

Eduardo Rodriguez will not play for the rest of this season after suffering from myocarditis during his recovery from a COVID-19 infection. (Jen McCaffrey on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

At just 27 years old, this is a heartbreaking story for the pitcher expected to break out this season. Coming off a 3.81 ERA season and averaging 9.4 strikeouts per nine innings, many analysts were predicting further improvement in the 2020 season but unfortunately we will not get to see it. Myocarditis is an inflammation of the heart muscle tissue and strenuous activity can potentially make it worse. Although the Red Sox expect a full recovery for Rodriguez eventually, he will not be in condition to pitch at all this season.
