Fantasy Impact:

Saunders was on the fast track to recovery from surgery to remove 60% of the cartilage from his left knee, and was rumored to possibly be available come opening day. John Gibbons shed some light on the situation Thursday morning stating that he will not be ready for opening day, and will begin the season on the DL. Saunders is still expected to join the team at some point in April. The 28-year-old left-hander hit .273 with 8 home runs last season and offers deep mixed league sleeper potential in a strong Toronto lineup and the hitter friendly confines of the Rogers Centre.
