Matt Wieters to start season on DL

Wieters will begin the season on the disabled list, participating in extended Spring Training in Bowie and Frederick. Baltimore is playing it safe with their franchise catcher in order to prevent a relapse in the rehab process. (Rich Dubroff on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
Caleb Joseph will assume the role of everyday catcher as Wieters rehabs in the minors on the disabled list. Joseph did an excellent job filling in last season but his offensive numbers aren't exactly up to par with Wieters. Orioles pitchers certainly benefitted from Joseph calling games as Baltimore pitchers posted an impressive 3.00 ERA with him behind the dish (Baseball Reference). Owners of Wieters might look into the backup in case of a delay in his rehab process.
