Yunel Escobar goes 2-for-3 in win over Marlins

by Kerry Kauffman | Mon, Mar 30th 11:01am EDT

Yunel Escobar has been limited to 14 at bats this spring due to and oblique injury, but had an excellent effort against the Marlins on Sunday. He went 2-for-3 with a run scored to raise his average to .357 in Grapefruit League play. Escobar hit .258 with 7 home runs and 39 RBI last season with the Rays.

Fantasy Impact:

Escobar is listed as the starting second baseman on the Nationals depth chart. The veteran has played for the Braves, Blue Jays and Rays and has a career batting average of .278 and an OPS of .728. Escobar likely will not be an upper echelon fantasy middle infielder, but is a solid option.
