Justin Verlander (triceps) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Sunday. Verlander is on the 15-day DL and will remain there for Opening Day. (MLive.com)

Fantasy Impact:

If everything goes well, Verlander will face live batters on Tuesday. The Tigers have hinted that he may make his season debut on April 12 in Cleveland, but nothing is certain at this point. His placement on the disabled list on Thursday was the first such occurrence of his career. Verlander is a boom or bust player, so drafting he could be risky. There had been hopes that with some of the weight he put on during the off-season, he could get closer to his former self, but there's also a large possibility that he has a repeat of last year's dismal season. Feel free to take a chance on him if you must, but expect an ERA from the high 3s to low 4s and don't give him much of a leash, as there are frequently very usable free agent pitchers on the waiver wire.
