Clayton Kershaw human in no-decision against the Padres

by Stan Son | Dodgers Correspondent | Mon, Apr 6th 8:35pm EDT

Clayton Kershaw was not sharp Opening Day against the San Diego Padres. He hit the first batter of the day, walked another two, and gave up three earned runs on six hits in six innings of work. He did strike out nine Padres and threw 68 of his 99 pitches for strikes.

Fantasy Impact:

For any other pitcher, this was a solid day's work. For Kershaw owners, this is not what they paid for. It just shows how dominant Kershaw has been and what expectations are for him. In regards to the three earned runs, one was a result of a defensive shift, and the other two came after catcher Derek Norris beat out an infield hit. Even on a bad day, Kershaw gives you nine strikeouts and a quality start. Kershaw will be fine.
