Mike Fiers earned his first loss of the season Friday night against the pirates, tossing five innings and allowing five earned runs on seven hits. He struck out eight batters and walked one.

Pittsburgh's lefties got the best of Fiers, with Neil Walker and Pedro Alvarez collecting five of Fiers' seven hits. The silver lining in the outing came from Fiers' impressive 8:1 K/BB ratio over five innings.
