Julio Urias named Texas League pitcher of the week

by Stan Son | Mon, Apr 20th 2:38pm EDT

Julio Urias was named Texas League pitcher of the week while teammate Corey Seager was named the player of the week. In two games, Urias has won two, not allowed an earned run in 10 2/3 innings, and struck out 14 batters while only issuing two walks.

Fantasy Impact:

Hard to fathom that Urias is only 18 years old. The Dodgers are not going to rush their young prospect and it looks like he will slowly climb his way up the ladder. As a 16-year-old, he pitched at A in Great Lakes and the following year at A+ in Rancho Cucamonga. He's currently in AA at Tulsa. Next stop is AAA in Oklahoma City and then hopefully the big league club. He has a minor-league career ERA of 2.24, 1.081 WHIP, and 190 K/55 BB in 152 2/3 innings. Urias was given a taste of the bigs in Spring Training and will probably be a last season call-up. Depending on how things play out, he could have an impact in 2016.
