Max Scherzer doubtful for Tuesday start

by Rose Ingberman | Rangers Correspondent | Sun, Apr 26th 12:51pm EDT

Max Scherzer jammed the thumb of his pitching hand during an at-bat in his start on April 23 and since then has been unable to throw without discomfort. He plans to take a conservative approach so if he cannot throw all his pitches pain-free on Monday he will skip his next start. (Mark Zuckerman of Nats Insider)

Fantasy Impact:

It's not clear what the Nationals will do if Scherzer misses his turn. They can either throw a bullpen game with Tanner Roark going 3-4 innings or bring up a starter from Triple-A and demote a reliever. At this point it seems unlikely Scherzer will go on the DL.
