Miguel Montero goes 2-for-3 with a run and a walk

by Aaron Goldberg | Mon, May 4th 10:28am EDT

Miguel Montero continued to show plate discipline and pop at the plate on Sunday against the Brewers, going 2-for-3 with a run and a walk. His season line is up to .283/.355/.572 with 3 HR, 10 RBI, and 5 R.

Fantasy Impact:

Montero is a top 10 fantasy catcher and has been a consistent contributor for the Cubs in 2015. His slugging percentage is low due to a lack of extra base hits: besides his 3 HR he only has one double and no triples on the season. He has been moved up to the 5th spot in the lineup recently, which may create more chances to drive in runs as well as score more runs with Starlin Castro hitting behind him. The 6th and 7th hitters in the Cubs lineup may have a more difficult time scoring runs with Joe Maddon's approach to NL lineups with the pitcher batting 8th in every game.
