Mark Teixeira flashes his power against the Red Sox

by Chris Zolli | Mon, May 4th 12:47pm EDT

Mark Teixeira hit his ninth home run of the season against the Red Sox, finishing 1-for-4 in the Yankees' 8-5 win.

Fantasy Impact:

Teixeira looks like a 30-35 home run hitter once again and his early season .910 OPS is his highest since 2009. Teixeira has not hit 30 home runs in a season since 2011 and his .583 slugging percentage is the highest that he has had in a season. His 14 extra base hits are fifth in baseball and his nine home runs are third; Teixeira may only have a .202 batting average this year but has 16 walks and 15 strikeouts on top of his outstanding slugging percentage. Teixeira's power stroke makes him a must add for fantasy purposes. He is only 4-for-19 against Monday's starter for the Blue Jays, R.A. Dickey, but does have a double and a home run.
