Ben Zobrist (left knee) is close to starting his rehab assignment

Oakland's Ben Zobrist is set to return to action (potentially) in a minor league rehab assignment on Monday (5/18/15). (HardballTalk)

Fantasy Impact:

Zobrist's (a 2B. SS, LF, CF; RF position eligible fantasy player) return to action is a much needed one for the fantasy owners who have him sitting on their DL, or who still have the option in their league(s) of picking him up him via free agency/waiver wire. It also wouldn't be a bad idea to try and acquire him via trade if you could get him relatively cheap. He wasn't off to the greatest of starts before his left knee injury shut him down after his last game on 4/24/15 (was hitting .240 with 8 R,1 HR, 8 RBI and 1 SB before being played on the DL), but he is one of those players that could surprise this season and do better than expected. He knows how to get on base (a career ..353 OBP) and can show some surprising pop some seasons. At the very least, consider taking a flier on him and keep him in mind as a potential player (one way or another) on your fantasy team with decent breakout performance potential.
