"Curse of the Fourth Inning" strikes Clayton Kershaw again

by Stan Son | Dodgers Correspondent | Mon, Jun 1st 11:44pm EDT

Clayton Kershaw was dominant except for one pitch to Nolan Arenado, who hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning. He pitched a total of seven innings, allowed two earned runs, five hits, walked one, and struck out seven. 60-of-93 pitches were thrown for strikes.

Fantasy Impact:

The curious case of the "Curse of the Fourth Inning" for Kershaw. Credit has to be given to the Dodgers telecast crew who coined the phrase. He's allowed 12 of his 33 runs in the fourth inning. It's the only inning where opponents are batting over .300. Besides the home run allowed to Arenado, Kershaw was dominant. The curveball is nasty as usual. Once he figures out this fourth inning quirk, everything should be right in the world.
