Edwin Encarnacion receives cortisone shot in shoulder

by Marc Walton | Sat, Jun 6th 6:30pm EDT

Edwin Encarnacion says his shoulder has been bothering him for two weeks, and the pain was noticeable during their game with the Astros on Saturday as he was seen wincing after several swings. He won't play in Sunday's contest with the Astros, and his status going forward is unknown. (Barry Davis on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Encarnacion has been battling a variety of issues since Spring Training. First he was held out of Spring Training games due to a back issue, then he was forced to miss four games due to hamstring issues which he is still receiving treatment for. Now, Edwin seems to be nursing a shoulder injury which could have negative effects on his swing. It wouldn't be a surprise if he was forced to the DL in order to sort these issues out. We will keep you updated as more news comes in.
