Clay Buchholz bailed out by offense

by Chris McCoy | Mon, Jun 8th 10:33am EDT

Clay Buchholz snapped his four game streak of pitching at least seven innings and allowing two or fewer earned runs when he was roughed up by the Athletics on Sunday. Buchholz surrendered four earned runs on 10 hits and two walks in 4.2 innings while striking out four. He was however bailed out by the offense who scored seven runs in the bottom of the eighth to take him off the hook for the loss.

Fantasy Impact:

As good as Buchholz had been in his previous four starts there was always the looming threat that the other foot was about to drop. While four ER in 4.2 innings is not necessarily a disaster, it sure isn't very helpful. Its more than fair to watch his next few starts before taking action on Buchholz one way or another.
